Jehovah is Jesus Christ, the God of the Old Testament. He was, by assignment of the Father, in charge of creating this world and everything thereon. He spoke in the name of the Father throughout the Old Testament. He identifies Himself when He calls himself I Am both in the Old Testament and in the New Testament. He is both the Son of the Father and the Father as the God of this world. He is our Father in the Gospel. We become part of His family through baptism.

"Jehovah" is the most commonly accepted bastardization of the generic Hebrew name for God, the Father, which is Yahweh. The English had no vowels to work with in transliterating Hebrew text items such as this; Hebrew text is usually devoid of vowels, and "Jehovah" happens to be one of their worst guesses at the vowel sounds within the name-- , also, at the time of the inception of this mismoniker, the English were very proud of the letter "J" which they had recently invented... so proud that they applied it to all the old "Y" and "Sh" consonants they could find, turning "Ian" into "John" and "Yacob" into "Jacob" and "Yeshua" into "Jesus" (not nearly as poor a guess at the vowels, but still inaccurate).
