You may recall the recent decision by the Kansas Board of Education to teach Intelligent Design alongside Evolution in Biology classes, citing that each should receive equal attention, as both are "theories" and that a wide spectrum of theories should be taught to students, or something like that.
As it goes without saying, people found this ridiculous. So some dude named Bobby Henderson up in Washington wrote a letter to the Kansas Board, citing that his theory should also be taught to students to further broaden their spectrum. Thus, the Flying Spaghetti Monster was born.
You could probably find the resulting book "The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster" by Bobby Henderson in a bookstore. It's pretty freakin' hilarious. Highly recommended. Pick it up for some laughs.

The Flying Spaghetti Monster is a spoof on world religions. It's pretty much an attempt at showing how ridiculous they all are. Somehow it's taken on quite a little following, which is a tad ironic actually.
I seem to have it in my mind that some kid in high school came up with it. I think he tried to take a religious holiday and was "discriminated" against...lol. That may be apocryphal...
In any case, it's just some silliness.

This is a tongue-in-cheek "deity" created for the purposes of spoofing so-called "intelligent design." The book from which it comes is "The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster," by Bobby Henderson, a self-described "out-of-work physics major." You can read it for yourself - enjoy!

Given the inverse square negative corelation between atheists and belief and focused thoughts any day now some one will report a sighting of a Flying Spaghetti Monster who has never heard of it before!
It's a joke but if you believe in telepathy if enuff of us keep thinking about FSM there will become one into being!

LOL...it is what many compare God to.
They say that He is a fictional character and is more likely to believe in the Flying Spaghetti Monster...
Just some people out trolling and playing games. Don't worry too much about it.

It's a fake deity created to demonstrate to the Kansas School Board how ridiculous it was to teach creationism in science class. You can read a copy of the letter sent to the Kansas School Board on this site. http://venganza.org

The FSN is nothing more than a way for us atheist (notice no capital) to ridicule religious believers. The chances of a god to really exist are no better than the chances of the FSN to exist.
