What does the Bible say saves? The physical act or something else?

Many Christians who practice infant baptism do so because they understand infant baptism as the new covenant equivalent of circumcision. In this view, just as circumcision joined a Hebrew to the Abrahamic and Mosaic covenants, so baptism joined a person to the New Covenant of salvation through Jesus Christ. This view is unbiblical. The New Testament nowhere describes baptism as the New Covenant replacement for Old Covenant circumcision. The New Testament nowhere describes baptism as a sign of the New Covenant. It is faith in Jesus Christ that enables a person to enjoy to blessings of the New Covenant (1 Corinthians 11:25; 2 Corinthians 3:6; Hebrews 9:15).

Baptism does not save a person. It does not matter if you were baptized by immersion, pouring, or sprinkling - if you have not first trusted in Christ for salvation, baptism (no matter the method) is meaningless and useless.

Neither circumcision or baptism saves anyone. These are outward acts done for separate reasons......Circumcision commanded by God had a practical and symbolic reason and baptism an ordinance that shows an outward symbol of something that happened inside (spiritually) ...your salvation through acceptance of Jesus Christ, which has already taken place before you get baptized..

Abraham was saved by God through the Grace of the Covenant and we also are saved by grace alone but not by grace in isolation since isolated grace ad nos(for and unto us) does not exist.
Faith alone,as in conviction isolated from hope and love and the virtues that come from the living out of the grace of faith, hope and love, cannot save and can only lull the sinner into avoiding repentance and into starving himself of grace.

Faith ,mere belief even with emotive conviction, without works(of faith-hope-love) is dead and it kills real faith.

There is no division between the grace of Baptism and the Giver and Gift of that Grace,Jesus Christ,Incarnate God. There is a union between the physical act and the redeeming grace just as there is a union of the physical and ensouled man and the pure spirit God in Jesus, the One Mediator ,Priest and Sacrifice.

if as an adult, I am baptized but i do not cooperate with that undeserved favour and gift of grace without a least the seed of repentence and believing and meaning the Baptismal Vows, then the act of the sacrament ( covenant oath in Latin) is another sin for me and not the regeneration that it signifies and objectively offers in Titus3:5 and John 3:5.

St Paul in 1 Cor 6:11 andRms 6:4 teaches that baptism's grace through the sign of the water and the Baptizer,Jesus, washes, sanctifies and justifies us.

1 Peter3: 21 proclaims that baptism now saves us and st peter also tells us that baptism is no mere washing of physical dirt.

Jesus never taugh salvation by faith alonebut the opposite in Matt7:21(not he who cries "Lord,Lord' but he who does the will of God...) and in Mat19:16-19 and John 14:21 keeping the Commandments is tied in to real saving faith. In Jesus Judgement Stories ,belief plays a minor role compared to the works of mercy and love.

The act of circumcision was to set the Isrealites apart as a holy people. That's why Jews have to continually offer sacrifices for their sins. Jesus came to fulfill the law. It's stated that we are saved by faith alone. Baptism just confirms it.

Being dunked in water does not Save....

The bible says baptism is just an outward show of the death buriel and resuurection of Christ , and a good conscience towards God....it doesnt save
It says , One must first realize they have sinned and are to REPENT of that sin and ask God into thier life by Faith and belief in him...One must first believ that He is...it says ALL that call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved........

and it also says there is no other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved...
Repent and if you are sincere and believe God knows your heart, and HE will abundantly parden.

Baptism was institute by Jesus to 4give every soul due to the original sin (from adam n eve). The period of Abraham is b4 Jesus came down. The word "Save" meaning to save ur soul after this life, but that will only apply if u don't live a "bad" life.

Christ - "unless a man be born again of water and the spirit,
he cannot enter the kingdom of heaven" (John 3:5).

Born again (regenerated, renewal of spirit),initially we are born with original sin.Baptism as it were washes away original sin.

Christ - "going therefore make disciples of all nations, batizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost(Matt. 28:19).

The sacrament of Baptism was instituted by Christ at his own Baptism, and commanded at his Ascension.

Note : In the "name," not in the "names" reference to the Holy Trinity (3 in 1).

Study the form and matter of Baptism, also baptism of blood and baptism of desire.

Why do we not READ it right????

Abraham's FAITH is what brought the fullness of his salvation because he acted on THE WORD from God and circumcised himself and his kids and so on. When you act on THE WORD of God and get being baptized after receiving Christ that is what brings the fullness of salvation.

This is simple reading comprehension stuff folks, come on.

God Bless you and bring you to the fullness of Salvation!

Baptism can not save you.
You are saved by faith alone and not through any works you do.
