When you have a nervous breakdown (now called emotional breakdown) you don't even realize you are having one. You will be hospitalized (if it is really bad) and kept asleep for a few days. You won't be allowed visitors, phone calls, newspapers or even be allowed to watch tv. Gradually the doctor will allow you to be awake for longer periods of time each day depending on your progress. When you are strong enough you will be seen by a psychiatrist who will try to find out the reason for your breakdown and if possible he will treat you for whatever caused it. A breakdown happens because something happened that your brain could not handle so rather than go insane or do something insane (harm yourself) the brain shuts down and you feel nothing but calm and peaceful. No cares and no worries.

If you have had a nervous breakdown you wouldn't be on the computer asking questions. If you feel that you are on the brink you had better see someone who knows about mental problems and can help. Perhaps you must be on medication? You would be surprised how much the right med can do for you. I speak from experience. Take care of yourself and don't wait to seek help.

I actually had a nervous break down last monday. It sucked I can tell you that. I could barely breath I was crying so hard and ONLY inhaling..it was like i wouldn't exhale. Eventually I calmed down with the help of a friend. I didn't think that I could go on that day, I wanted to hide out and NEVER come out..it was a TERRIBLE feeling. It lasted a whole week where I just wanted to commit myself to an institution just to get away. (actually i kinda always feel like that) but it's beginning to get better..I pray every day that God help me through this tough time. My advice is to PRAY. If you don't believe in God, pray to a good and calm spirit..cuz there IS something out there whether you call it God or not. But pray for peace and strength to go on. I SWEAR it helps. It's the only way.

Just go into the flashback... think of all the good things that have happened to u... just avoid the things that are going wrong... Go out, get some fresh air, talk to ur best friend about it, get to the root of the problem and see why thngs havnt worked out. If they didn't, its ok... no one said life's gon be fair... C a counseller or therapist and take medication. Don't let this affect ur lifestyle. Infact, try improving ur lifestyle thru a great diet, include lots of fresh fruit juices, greenies and avoid coffee and cola as much as poosible. When it happened to me, i would opt for coffee and cola all the time until i found out that they dont work as anti-depressants but actually increase ur depression!!! Ur doc. should give u mood stabilizers to balance ur mood. Go for meditation/ Yoga, breathing exercises will help ur mind body and soul relax! Lastly, dont think too much... This will help u recover atleast 60%.... Rest, u'll have to give urself time

Prayer is the only answer to ur problem. Just keep on chanting whatever mantra u know or Gayatri Mantra as it is supposed to calm u known as Shanti Mantra or just chant Om shanti, shanti, om. The doctors will put u to sleep for some time but that is not the answer as u ve to face the situation and cannot run away from it. Rather u should be with a friend who is spiritually advanced or a Reiki Master who would give u healing to stabilize u and put u on ur feet. So please develop faith in God and every night before going to bed just say " I cancel all negativity from my mind and invoke positive energy and receive divine protection" Say it at least 3 times before going to bed and then sleep. It will work fruitfully. Please do not go to any astrologer or tantrik or pandit as they will fleece u and make matters worse by taking money and not owning any responsibility for their prescribed remedy. When u go again to them they will ask u to spend more money on another remedial measure as it is their livelihood. Adopt meditation in ur life so that u ve strong mind and can face life.

Seek help. Talk to a family member. Go to a local emergency room if necessary.
Find a place where you will be safe, especially if you are having thoughts of suicide.
Remember things will get better and you are not alone. ER physicians can get you set up with a crisis counselor to talk to, and they can get you admitted to a psychiatric ward until you are stabilized. Remember that it is okay to seek help.

you are going to be very irrational, you don't want anybody to touch you you will be either belligerent or passive, it's different for everybody. you want to go for help , the nearest hospital with a mental health department, but you will probably fight it.
