Would it be safe to buy a ps3 40 gig
I see the 80 gig but i really dont want to pay 499 when i can pay 399.
I dont have ps2 games so backwards compatability means nothing to me
the 2 less ports n all that dont matter i dont think

I just want a good system for a decent price and a blue ray player.
I want it to last, and i hear the 40 gig is quieter when your watching dvds.and runs cooler
My xbox360 is so loud you cant hear the movie lol

all in all is the 40 gig a good buy, i am a casual gamer but i want something that i dont have to buy upgrades and more memory later.
i have had a 20 gig xbox360 1 1/2 years and never needed more room.
still 11 of memory left...
I just dont want to worry about buying the 40 and something be wrong with it...a quickly sloppy made product...when i couldve spent 100 more dollars and been safe
Any help appreciated GREATLY. thanks

Like I said in your other question, since you don't really care about backward compatibility, go with the 40GB PS3 then. After hearing that you are a casual gamer, the 40GB PS3 is perfect for you.

I'm suprised to hear that you had a 20GB Xbox 360 for 1 1/2 years and still have 11GB of memory left. I've had my 60GB PS3 for just 11 months and have used almost 20GB of space on my PS3.

The 40GB PS3 wasn't a sloppy made console, all of the PS3's were produced with top standards and as long as your PS3 has the proper air flow, it will never overheat. Don't worry about your PS3 having hardware failure. Microsoft may have let you down, but Sony will not. The PS3 is a well built console.

All of the PS3's are pretty quiet consoles, and the PS3 can upscale standard DVD's to HD quality.

The 40GB is the perfect model for a user like you. Backward compatibility not an issue, the 40GB doesn't have it, it's cheaper, and if the 2 less ports along with the memory card reader mean nothing to you, then I'd say go for the 40GB.
See here's the problem the 360 has caused, you're asking that if the 40GB is going to be any more or less reliable than the 60 or 80GB, the answer is no, the PS3 has a failure rate, that rate is of course considerably less than the over 30% 360 failure rate, coming in at about .02%. Less than 1/2 of 1%.
So no, the 40GB is not made any more sloppy or made of cheaper components or anything like that.

Go for the 40gb, its your call. If you dont have any ps2 games then there isnt much to think about. The only drawback of the 40 gb that you might take into consideration is that it doesn't have the memory card stick slot or any of the other ones. You can still transfer your memory though by getting a usd flash drive. But overall i think that you should go for it.

if playing ps2 games means nothing to you i say get it. i got the 60 gig but if i never bought that one, i would have gotten the 40 gig. your right, 40 gigs is plenty of space. and who cares about usb ports anyway. i only use one and thats to charge my controller. i say go for it. the ps3 is great. you will love it. and by the way, i leave my ps3 on all night long sometimes when downloading demos, the thing is virtually silent. it does have a small fan noise but its hardly noticable. i know what you talking about with the 360. when i used to load games up, mine sounded like it was going to explode

Can you afford to spend $100 more dollars for a more space 80 g rather than 40, with 2 more ports added , you can probably use it later on.
