everytime i drink milk or eat ice cream, it feels like my throat swells up, and its harder to breathe and swallow for about 15-30 minutes, depending on how much i eat. i don't have problems with cheese or anything like that. i'm allergic to fruits and veggies and whenever i eat those, my throat closes/swells and its harder for me to swallow and breathe. it feels the same as when i drink milk and ice cream, and i'm just realizing it now. it doesn't happen everytime i eat ice cream or drink milk, but like 1 out of every 3 times, and makes it very uncomfortable for me. also, it hurts like i need to burp or something, but i can't. so am i lactose intolerent, or have a milk allergy or something? what's going on..
also, is there any relief for my throat, that feels swollen?

Sounds like a milk allergy. I'm lactose intolerant, when I drink milk a couple hours later I get all bloated and gassy (yuck i know). Other people get diarreah. But the swelling of the throat no, thats definitely an allergy. Take a antihistamine medication whenever your throat swells.

What you are describing is an allergy and a potentially serious one at that. My son and grandson are lactose intolerant. They get stomach pains, vometing and diarreia from milk, but not throat swelling or trouble breathing. Get tested, the last thing you want is to have a milkshake followed by an ER visit.

With your throat swelling, that's an allergy. I am allergic to garlic and that's the same thing that happens to me if I consume the slightest bit of garlic.

I am lactose intolerant. ANY kind of dairy gives me gas and I'm bloated for at least 2 days. You may be allergic AND intolerant...eww...go see a doctor.

It may not be the milk it could be antibiotics used on the cows. Try organic and see if you have problems with that kind of milk. If you were lactose intolerant as one of my children is, it generally makes for loose bowels and stomach upset.

An allergy would create an allergic response: like a rash, vomiting, difficulty breathing, runny eyes/nose. "Intolerance" just means your body cannot digest that particular food so it rattles along in your intestines and causes problems like you experienced. There is a product you can take before eating dairy, I think it's called Lactese or Lacteze, something like that. Ask at your pharmacy.

It sounds like an allergy to me. I wouldn't expect lactose intolerance to cause your throat to swell like that. Why don't you see a doctor about this?

Oh, gosh. That sounds like an allergy. Lactose intolerant is when you cannot digest something in milk. Well, I am pretty sure.
