Well, I have a really pretty smile enev though i have a small over bite. And I tryed these braces thing and my mouth sticks out 3 times it regular. And it is to the point were it hurts BAD. Like pull your lips out for and hour and then let go that is what i looked like after. Is there any type of braces that are really small. Or less noticable or kinds you only have to wear for like a year?

Yes, there are. They are more or less transparent. But I do believe they are far more expensive than yours. If your overbite is that small, ask your dentist about a retainer to be worn at night only.

I'm not in the dental field so I am not sure of my answers. But, I have a son who had TERRIBLE teeth and an extremely narrow upper palate. For him, an oral surgeon cut the bones of the upper jaw and gently over time spread them apart. Years later he had to have another surgery.

Then he got the standard braces. His smile is fantastic now.

I would ask your dentist about the pain issue, but with so many people wearing braces, I don't think he/she will do much about how noticeable they are.

At least you didn't need $40,000 in orthagnatic (sp?) surgery that was not covered by insurance. He was miserable for months.

As far as I know, there is no shortcut to braces. You just have to tough it out for as long as your orthodontist tells you. HOWEVER, the time period in which you have your braces on is significantly less than the time period you will get to enjoy your pearly whites! I've had braces on for a year and a half now and know exactly what you mean when you say pain. The pain does go away 1-2 days after tightening. I suggest Ibuprofen(Motrin) to ease the pain.
You have it easy though if you only have to wear braces! I had to have 4 teeth exposed by an oral surgeon because they wouldn't come through my gums on their own! I also had to wear an expander which widens your jaw and makes space for more teeth to come in. (You have to manually crank it every night before bed). So just stick in there! You'll be fine! Just think of how great your teeth will look afterward!

invisalign doesnt correct overbites they just straighten your teeth.... your best bet is to go with invisible braces they are like regular braces but smaller and have clear brackets wires and bands. If your teeth arent too bad it shouldnt take more then a year. if its just an overbite what they do is just put braces on and then have you wear rubber bands to bring your teeth back a bit.... I had braces for about 4 years before I got them off so i feel your pain! good luck !!!

its not worth it. unlike when they shift your teeth and put a retainer to make them stay. when you fix your over bite it does not always stay. i had braces for 3 years and am back to my old bite :(

Tell your orthodontist you are not happy and ask if there is an alternative treatment for your teeth. How about "Invisalign"?

Maybe you can use wax for a while. Usually they will adjust.
