And don't say it's only in the Old Testament.
New Testament:
1 Timothy 2:11-12
Let a woman learn in silence with full submission. I permit no woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she is to keep silent.
So, if it's sexist, why value it so much? Why allow females to be an inferior sex in your most precious book? Are you sure it's God's word to call females unclean and keep them quiet? For something "HE" apparently did, being the creator?

This particular topic is irrelevant to other religions that portray the same thing, and to my sex. I'm simply pointing something out.

Is the Bible sexist? Or were the writers of the Bible sexists.

That is stupid and immature! The whole freakin' world was sexist back then! Women sure don't keep silent in my church today....can't get them to pipe down!
You name one culture that wasn't sexist more than 100 years ago let alone 2000 years .....There sure are a lot of female pastors now eh? No orthodox Jewish female rabbis,no Catholic priests, but the protestants allow them.(Some still don't ,most do)

it is the punishment for woman in our religion. In our eyes God made the rules and punishments.
Genesis 3:16....many people think her only punishment was labour or giving birth in pain, but it is also to be our slaves. But how the man treats her is up to the man, and do not forget. The woman also picks the man she marries.... so pick a nice guy, not a steroid freak.
Quoting the bible...

Hi,,
If you go back to Genesis, women weren't part of God's original plan. God thought that Adam would be happy with a goat. Women were the alternate plan...
Cheers.

If you actually learn the Bible from its context and time period from where it was written maybe you wouldn't be accusing it of anything.
Yes it would be considered sexist in our time, and I admit to that but if you do think about it, this was written thousands of years ago. Even non-Christians were sexist at the time. Whether they were Jewish, Buddhist or whatever. It's just how ancient times worked; before equality of the sexes (or other races and other people for that matter) came about.
Many cultures, religion not being a part of it, considered women below men, so don't go about accusing of only Christians doing it and promoting it for that matter.

Corinthians is quite misogynistic, too:
http://www.thebricktestament.com/epistles_of_paul/instructions_for_women/1co11_04.html
1 Corinthians 14:34
As in all the churches of God's holy people, women are to remain quiet in the assemblies, since they have no permission to speak: theirs is a subordinate part.
If you go back to Genesis, women weren't part of God's original plan. God thought that Adam would be happy with a goat. Women were Plan B.

Both the Bible and the Qur'an are sexist, because both are written by men.
The Bible says that women are NOT to allowed to speak in church, or wear mens clothing...and thats just the "little" stuff.

Every time somebody asks a perfectly rational question, they always go back to that Eve ate the apple crap. But if you can't come up with a good response, what else can you do.

Gen.1: 26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
Gen. 2: 21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;
22 And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.
24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
The story of creation demonstrates man is one both male and female.
God could have created Eve from the dust a seperate creation God chose to show that man is one by making Eve from Adam.
God is a spirit and he created man in his image and man is both male and female.
God is not a man he is an eternal spirit God is not concerned with your flesh but is concerned with your eternal soul.
Gal.1: 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
In order to know God one must know him in spirit. It is through the spirit God reveals his truth.
