... If you want it to be taken seriously, work on the numerous CAPITALIZATION, spelling and grammar errors. They are bad enough here to detract from your message, and that is something you do not want.

If you want direct help with it, email me and I'll try and help you with some editing.

I don't make any claim that this is "perfect," but it corrects several mistakes and errors from your original:

I am extremely offended by the prejudicial remarks and treatment I have faced at Summit through by experience so far. I am a Jewish student attending Summit High School and ever since I have started here, I have encountered cruel jokes and remarks about of my religion. These offensive remarks are coming not only from the students here but also the teachers. Simple things like saying "Christmas break" instead of "winter break" make me (and generally anyone of a religion other than Christianity) feel like an outsider.

Being a non-Christian is hard at this school, not only during the holiday season but all through the year. Just within the last few weeks I have heard some horrible remarks mainly directed toward the Jewish people. One comment came from a student while talking with a group of others discussing religion saying "I don't necessarily mind Jews, but Gypsies, man they freak me out."

A few weeks ago, I was told a joke: "What's the difference between Jews and a pizza? Pizzas don't scream when you put them in the oven."

These two comments alone show how closed minded and uneducated people not only in this school but city are. These kids will grow up to be closed minded and uneducated adults because of the fact that they are not taught about other religions and holidays. They are taught to always say "Merry Christmas" and "Christmas Break" without even realizing there are other people in this world besides people that celebrating Christmas.

I agree that those jokes or whatever they are supposed to be are extremely insensitive and offensive. However, I think it is too much when simple things as Merry Christmas end up being offensive. Im an atheist and the majority of people around me are religious, most of which are Christian. Simply out of courtesy, I dont feel as if I should impose on them regulations so I will be satisfied and they arent. I dont know where you live but I live in Toronto, Canada and its a multicultural approach. Christmas is dominant but all other holidays are celebrated as well. We just had Diwali media coverage with politicians participating etc.
I really think banning all things Christmas is going too far. I actually like the season; pretty decorations, joyful people, and the sales:)
You can ask for toleration and understanding but you have to be willing to give some in return as well.

I am an atheist and understand your pain and frustration . Many groups face this type of discrimination ; Jews , Gays , Transexuals , Atheists , et al .
I "accept" the terms like Merry Christmas to be Secular when they are said to me .Usually the people mean no harm . But it is just as annoying to hear all the Christian Music playing in the Mall during Nov/Dec . But I "Accept" it as tradition ( like buying lots of dumb things during the holidays ) . When people say "Merry Christmas" , I respond "And Merry X-Mas to you !"
IF a teacher says something that is really insulting to you Complain to the Principle , The school board , The ACLU .
You really can't do much about the other students who are anti semetic .Try to befriend them . Try to educate them . Try to show them up by setting a fine example of how openminded people should behave .Try to befriend other set upon people at your school ( such as gays , atheists , physically challenged, etc.
The school should NOT ( assuming here that it is a Public School ) play favorites when it comes to religion . But it does seem that the term"CHRISTMAS" is now accepted as a designation for the secular holiday consisting of lighting up spaces and trees , pretending there is a Santa Clause Figure , sharing times with loved ones and friends , and so forth .

well, I think that you are right about the jokes. I don't think that you are right about people wanting to call Christmas what it is. That is one day, and it does belong to the Christians, as it is Jesus's birthday. This is not to say that your holiday is any less important. Others who say cruel things about your religion are showing their ignorance, if not anger as well. It has gotten so ugly that people are not suppose to call Christmas trees Christmas trees, instead they are suppose to call them Family trees so that we do not offend others about Christ. Perhaps you might understand that it is not entirely your religion that people are belittling it seems to be all religion. People seem to be threatened by others idolizing something else besides musical stars. So perhaps this might do you some good since you are not Christian, because Christianity has gotten a bad wrap for years. And every day its gets more hypocritical out there, judges swear n on the bible then two doors down they make sure the ten commandments are taken down from a place where they have always been welcomed. God be with you and I hope you do not have to endure those cruel and unfair comments about your faith. However, the true meaning of Christmas is what it is, Jesus's birthday, your Holidays during that time last for days, not just one special day. And isn't it on another day besides the 25th of December? Aren't there weeks of it or many days of it? Opening gifts one per day? For quite a few days?

I believe to jokes and remarks about the Jewish people are wrong and should be addressed. On the other hand you must realize that this country was founded on Christian values. If you find Merry Christmas insulting then perhaps you are being to sensitive. Feel free to say Happy Hanukkah if you feel the need. A kind word goes a long way to understanding and tolerance.

Very good. A few grammar errors, but other than that it's good.

Email me if you would like more help. I'm a public school teacher who would pitch a complete fit if I heard a student say such a thing and who never says "christmas" break.

I'd drop the complaint about what to call the Winter holiday (it sounds somewhat petty), and concentrate my efforts on condemning the anti-Semitic jokes and comments. They're what's really harmful.
