I use regular antibacterial dishsoap and my cats don't mind...Just be sure to rinse well =)

Also, I don't think ammonia sounds like a good idea. Anything too harsh could be quite dangerous.

I have a plastic litter box which I clean with a mixture of bleach and water once a week. I've always made sure to rinse it thoroughly and my cat has never had a problem with the smell or eliminated outside her box after it has been disinfected.

I use some nice hot water with anti-bacterial soap and some vinegar (just to get the smell out of both of the cats poo). And they still BOTH use the litter box fine. It's pretty much a natural instinct once they use it for a long time. I wouldn't worry too much :)

If your cats are using the box, then I see no reason to change what you're doing.

I would opt for a "deep cleaning" once a month.

I personally soak my box in Oxyclean and hot water once a month, rinse it, and then let it dry thoroughly.

Considering ammonia is what the cat box can smell like, it tends to deter animals (same as vinegar) from using the spot if you have a trace smell of it.

My cat is a siamese ragdoll mixture. And he did the astounding comparable element yet he used the two litters. in case you prefer to objective the separate clutter i could shop the 'choosy' one in a separate room with its very own clutter merely for a on an identical time as and notice if that even works. And this probably sounds kinda loopy yet do not punish it for occurring the floor. provide it a lot of luvs and interest see if that what it needs. I dunno in any different case cuz my cat does it nevertheless while he feels like it. He makes use of his clutter lots yet especially circumstances poops on the floor. additionally sparkling the place it poops on the floor fairly good so the scent is long gone. it would desire to furnish up it from goin there. and whether the scent is long gone nevertheless sparkling it cuz they might scent greater desirable than we are able to, even however canine scent much greater desirable. i -coronary heart- kitties.

I use dish soap and there is no problem. I think stronger smelling cleaners may make some cats no want to use the box

Use white vinegar. It disinfects and cleans very well. Its also good for removing stains in the litter box. Just give it a good scrub or let is soak.

Soap and ammonia are good, but I use soap and Baking Soda..they seem to not notice any changes and have not had any problems using that...just be sure to rinse thoroughly and scrub "intensely" when you do the initial cleaning...Good Luck

We scrub ours out and use soapy disinfectant, like Pine Sol.

As long as you rinse all the product off, and dry the catbox, they won't mind at all. And, you will know that it is good and clean.

I'd just go with a little dawn, rinse very well, sprinkle baking soda in and rub that in also, rinse again and you're good to go.
