See a Psychiatrist and get some professional advice. If you are having Drugs or alcohol withdrawal problems a Psychiatrist can give you some good advice and prescribe some legal drugs that will help get over your depression. He or she can also determine the degree of your depression so that maybe you can tell what to expect in recovery. If you can not afford this approach then join a support group that has problems similar to yours. No situation is hopeless. Be sure and do something. Time takes care of a lot of things but depression is hard to live while you are waiting for time to take care of it so I would not waste any more time. Talk to some one in person. We can not do much from here.

There are different ways we can be depressed. The best solution depends on whether you are "clinically depressed" or just gong through a bad period. If this has been going on for more then two weeks, you feel this way most everyday and it is having a significant impact on your daily life you may be suffering from one of the depressive disorders. You would do well to consult your Dr. If this has been a short term situation then involving yourself in activities you enjoy, interacting with others and exercise will often help. Try to get regular sleep and reduce stress by simplifying your life.

well Hun we do have the time and the patients and unless we know what your issues are its hard to give an answer here to help you. Fighting depression is no easy task and there is no quick fix. It depends on what type of depression you have. There are medications you can take, there are lots of therapy out there available free on the NHS.Often finding the root cause of your`e depression is the key to beating it or learning how to live with it in a controlled way. For me personally I take medication and have therapy but also to help myself I have just started to do yoga, I listen to meditation tapes, I learn coping strategies and learn to recognise the triggers that set me off and act upon those. I make choices, we all have choices in life its up to us to make them. So lets have a few more details and lets see what advice we can offer.

I personally told my family after 12 years that I was manic depressed and a cutter. They had taken it good. I did go is a a couple of head doctors. They gave me some antidepressants. The pills were ok, but I spent most of my time trying to be more social like going out and hanging with friends, focused on work, make plans for my future. With family support I've been cut and antidepressant pill free for 4 years now. As much as I would love to say life is great after depression but it is still pretty crappy, but it is worth exploring. Life is extremely short as it is. It is suprising how many people you can impact and them on you.
Find your passions and follow them to a life worthy of your love, fun, exploration and fulfillment.

I constantly fight depression. One of my methods is by reading. If I'm reading a book and concentrating on it, I have no room left in my brain to concentrate on the depression. I also come on line and try to make friends. Somehow it seems like I'm not by myself (when I really am) when I'm on my computer. I listen to music almost constantly. I've been to the doctor and was given medication that is supposed to help. I guess it might but if I wasn't doing anything myself I'm sure the medication would be of no help. A number of my friends I only talk to on yahoo messenger and am sure I will never meet them in real life. I guess that kind of sucks but it's better than nothing.

See depression treatments, at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris in section 2, and consult a doctor, to eliminate thyroid problems, etc. as possible contributing factors. It is your decision, and yours alone, as to whether to take any antidepressants offered, but, before you do, read section 1, and check medications out at www.drugs.com so you will be on the lookout for side effects, like sexual dysfunction. My strong recommendation, however, is to follow the advice of my doctor, his partner, and also Marcelle Pick, OB/GYN NP, and Dr. Mercola, as well, at http://www.mercola.com and avoid antidepressants (page 2V refers, & antidepressant websites: page 2). All of their advice, (except prayer, because many people are not religious) I have incorporated into the "core treatments", including others as options, such as herbal remedies (none of which have been conclusively demonstrated to work with severe depression). If you are diagnosed with clinical (major) depression, antidepressants may be necessary for a while, which will give the treatments time to become effective. The antidepressants themselves need at least several days, or even many weeks to reach full effectiveness. It's a good idea to taper off them slowly, with medical advice, after several months, say, to a couple of years, at most, because they are only effective in the long term for about 30% of people. Because of this, you would be well advised to begin the treatments immediately, and maintain them. I'd just thank your mental health care provider, and pocket the prescription, trying the treatments for a few months, to see if they are sufficient for you, before considering filling it.

eh up R.D. i personally don't suffer from depression but my sister does, i can only imagine how you must feel but my sister was the same as you, in the sense that there are only a few things that get her through the day, but recently she has had her medication changed and slowly (several weeks) she is improving, so keep on at your doctor until you find the right medication, and make sure you get to do the things that make you feel good and happy!
good luck R.D

I struggle with depression often. On the days that I seem to be doing well I notice that I get up earlier and do MORE before noon than I do on a depressed day. If I wake up on a day that I get to sleep in and I'm feeling low, I try to go outside and sit.;listen to the wind and watch the world around me,.it feels good. And if you notice that you are feeling kinda low, set your alarm and force yourself to get up earlier than ususal and do things before noon..strange as it may sound, you feel good like you've accomplished so much in the day and then can enjoy the rest of the day and it feels really good to relax then. Good luck to you!!
