When asked if its the first time they have done this, he/she says yes. Couple days later, you ask again and they confess again and say it was the second time and that they are sorry that did not tell the truth the first time because of fear that you would leave them.

I can forgive, but what upset me is if asked a question the first time- at least have the decency/respect to tell the full truth. I think that was quite selfish, especially since we were working on starting fresh. Am I wrong?

You aren't wrong. If he respected you, he wouldn't cheat on you and then lie to you about it, sweetie. He's already cheated on you twice that you know of. What's going to stop him from doing it again?
