I am planning on getting a ps3, I currently have a xbox360.
I was looking at the 40 gig ps3--spiderman blueray dvd and 5 free blue ray dvds for 399.
I dont really care they took the backward compatability away i dont own any ps2 games any more.
I am basically getting a ps3 for a blueray player.
normal blueray players are 500, y not pay 399 and play games too ;)
Is there any faults to the 40 gig ps3 like the red ring in the xbox360 hardware..
When i got the redring i couldnt watch dvds or play games for a month.
I also saw the 80 gig, motor storm and 5 free blueray dvds for 499
I am going to buy this at amazon.com is that a pretty decent site to buy from?
any help is appreciated thanks.

If you don't really care about the backward compatibility then get the 40GB PS3. But, I don't really think that you will be using the PS3 for just a Blu-Ray player, because if you do that, some of the best games will pass you by and you would be missing out on a whole lot.

If you need more hard drive space for the 40GB PS3 you can buy a bigger hard drive and swap out the new one with the old PS3 hard drive.

Also the PS3 does not even have any hardware failure problems. I've had my 60GB PS3 for 11 months and I've had no problems at all. The hardware failure rate on the PS3's is 0.2%, while the Xbox 360 failure rate is over 30%. So basically, hardware failure on the PS3 is almost non-existent.

Amazon.com is a good website to buy the PS3 from. I use Amazon.com all the time and they ship everything pretty quickly.

currently, there is nothing wrong with the PS3s. the xbox is mainly for playing games, so that's why it is bad to use an xbox as a hd dvd player. Amazon is a very good website to purchase items.. I purchase things from them often. Hope this helps!
