Yes. I had to let go of a lot of things when My Steve committed suicide. And then I left California, had to let go of all the things that were not worth transporting 2,000 miles in a rented truck. Most recently, I have had to let go of my identity as a witch. I'm an atheist now, and can stop feeling guilty for not having done a single Sabbat since Steve died. Now I can also let go (sell) the books and other things I inherited from Steve.

Absolutely! It is a fact of life that the old gives way to the new many times.
Jesus said basically that unless a seed goes into the ground and dies, it cannot be raised up as something new. It works that way in nature, and in our lives mentally and spiritually.

For instance, I enjoyed being single before I married my wife. I was able to stay out or up whenever I wanted and I didn't have to answer to anyone. Now when I weigh what I had with the commitment and security of being able to share my life with my wife, it doesn't even compare. I don't even relatively desire those old things anymore. Regardless of that fact, I still had to make the choice to let old things pass away as well as the desire for those things.

Spiritually, there can be things in our lives that mark us and define us. Sometimes those marks and definitions need to change. The only way they can be changed though is to let go of them, to let them and the desires for them die.

I hope this helps!

Most definitely. Back in the fall of 2000 I symbolically "divorced" my habit of smoking. I had been smoking 4 packs a day for the past several years and I started smoking almost a decade before then. But I knew it was keeping me from progressing spiritually.
Once I gave it up, the blessings started pouring in.

Yes - after having a miscarriage I was angry, sad and bitter. We wanted kids so much - the stress was overwhelming.

Finally, we had to decide that we had to quit thinking about the baby we lost and focus on living healthy, positive lives so that we could be open to conceiving again.

Are you willing to obey God, to walk into your "Red Sea" and let God do the rest? What is God asking you to do now? He is asking you to let go of the old and start something new, now by following him.
