I mean come on I could care less about heaven or eternity. I just want to make the most of right now. It sounds kind of sick in a way to say your loved one is in a better place, perhaps Santa Claus is to up in the North Pole.

I have lost a loved one but it just sounds like a load of crock when people say it, it seems to me your better off to remain silent.

to some of you "christians" who judge me by my avatar or name shame on you! It blows me away how quick you are to judge and put people into boxes to fit your unbelieveable view of reality.

what's wrong is that the do-gooders are making life miserable for everyone else by passing laws that only favor the religious. we have the right to make our own choice, no matter how badly, and the religious do not have the right to regulate our lives in order to make theirs the way they want life to run.

First of all you should care about Heaven, eternity, and Hell, 'cause believe it or not you are going to spend enternity somewhere. Let's hope it's not Hell. People say they are in a better place, because it makes them feel good to believe that. Nobody wants to think of a loved one going to Hell, so tha's why they say they went to a better place, meaning Heaven. THE TRUTH really is that, everyone who dies does not go to a better place. Yes there is a place worse than what the think the world is. It is Hell. So please don't fool yourself. Everyone who dies is not in right standing with God, and He is not a lier. So no matter who says that, whether he's a preacher who knows better, and only says that to console the family of the deceased, or just the average person who says it because that's what they've always heard , you had better believe that caring now is very important. So don't worry about the dead, their fate is already determined. Do what it takes to make sure you get to the right place. Heaven is real, and so is Hell. Would you rather find out when it's too late for you.

People want to help and make you feel better, even if what they say is a lie. People who say that aren't thinking about a detailed philosophical argument, they just want you to feel better at a time when they can't actually do anything that can make you feel better.
It's a good thing to talk about before someone dies, but I wouldn't bring up the argument during a funeral.

I guess it's because we don't really know what to say when the time comes. I think it's more appropriate to say, "I'm sorry for your loss, you have my condolences." How do you know your boyfriend's uncle Tom isn't a child molester that died? He sure as hell isn't in a better place. By saying that, you just started the waterworks all over the funeral parlor once again! Whatta creep!

They usually say that when the person has died a long and painful death, in which case even an atheist might legitimately say it. After all, being dead is preferable to being alive in constant agony and humiliation.

From the looks of your aviator, and ID name, you know nothing of what you are talking about. Let me enlighten you, this world is perishing, and all that is in it is perishing with it. If you reject Jesus as the Messiah, and you love this world more than the spiritual world, then you are perishing with it, forever. So I suggest you enjoy your short life, and it is short, or rethink your whole outlook on life.

God created us to live here on Earth FOREVER!
If He wanted us in Heaven, he would have created us THERE.
It therefore is natural to be happy HERE and that would be the accepted and well appreciated fact of a good life if we only lived according to guidelines of responsible behavior God intended.
All the "excuses" and "explanations" made by religious leaders at funerals only underscores their ignorance of what God intended when He created us.

Well, my life in Christ is full and beautiful and satisfying. I cannot imagine finding more earthly satisfaction outside of my faith. But my place in heaven is infinitely more fulfilling and beautiful; it is beyond human definition or comprehension.
