Without getting into too much detail, I would have to say that Paul was one of many that "put Jesus on the map" as you say. Others were Peter and the other apostles, Apollos, Timothy, John Mark, Silas, and so many others that I would have to search the Bible more thoroughly to list even a few of them. It's just that Paul had a major part in the book of Acts that make him stand out among the others. And no, he was not a money-grubbing rat from Jerusaslem. As for your opinion that maybe he was just whacko, I believe he was called by God (more specifically, Jesus) to do all of the traveling he did to spread the Good News of Christ. And Jesus was not a whacko. He came preaching something totally different from the status quo at the time.

Jesus was already on the "map" He doesn't need Paul to put Him there and He was already in control of everything
Jesus was not whacko and His Father told Him too and yes He was ready to die for something, everyone's sins for more in the Bible read the book of Matthew

I don't think Paul accomplished this single-handedly, though he may have had more drive and personal motivation than others. Whacko? Yes, but that's just my opinion and lots of Christians disagree...
I think Jesus put Jesus on the map. His teachings were powerful enough to change a lot of people's thinking. The first believers did not think of him as "the son of God." They saw him as a teacher, prophet, charismatic figure. Word spread slowly, but it spread. And then it got distorted. And the rest is history.

I have scoured all the maps in my possession and cannot find any reference to jesus anywhere.
I didn't know Paul personally so find it difficult to categorise him accurately but, I have to agree, that he does display some signs of mental instability. A common affliction of the time, it appears. No reason, though, why modern man should behave in the same way.
Haha - 'harrod'. try Herod? Zealot has an E in it. Come ON, people!!!

I also believe that Paul was one of Jesus' most prized advocates. He truly took what God told him to do to heart and showed his seniority but still humbled himself to the people. He did a wonderful job in his letters to the Corinth. Definitely was a huge impact on the Bible and teachings of the word of God.

Paul was the first true evangelist to the world. He must be given praise for his efforts and accomplishments.
But all true credit for the faith and the church rests with Christ Jesus.
