Hello, well, I love dogs and my son is three yrs old so I feel that I am able to bring another member to the family, but I don't have that much money to spend, I look around but the cheapest was $900. A friend recommeded a shelter and I'm going tomorrow. How much will I spend?

We got our beautiful, wonderful dog from the Downey shelter. We got her about two years ago for about $40. That included her shots and spaying. From the time we picked her out to the time we got her home was only a week. Getting a dog from a shelter is the best thing you could do. Congratulations on your future family member.

It depends on the shelter really. However if the animal is already spayed or neutered then less then 100 dollars, if they aren't it may be up to 150. Good luck

If the animal is already spayed then that day, however if they are not you may have to wait until that is done, depending on what day the vet does that you may have to wait a couple of days.

At a nearby shelter the cost for a spayed or neutered dog is $39. That's in Eugene, Oregon.

It depends on the shelter. I got my dog at a shelter for less than $50 plus a $50 deposit. I received my deposit back when I showed proof that I had my dog spayed. Also, check around for a good vet, many of them will give you your first visit free for rescuing a pet.

In my California town it cost me $85.00. But if your shelter is like mine ,you have to fill out papers then add your name to the list of the dog you want , then wait to see who they pick from the list. If no one else wants that dog then it will be yours in a few days, but if several want it , then they take a bit longer to decide who will be the best parents :-)
Good Luck getting your new friend.

It all depends really. The area you live and the type and age you want. Try going to petfinder.com.
I'm sure you'll find one you like :]
