I think global warming is a big crisis and we all need to be educated about it. There are things people can do, even if they do not support global warming, that can help the environment.
So what do you think about it? are you all for it? against? trying to understand? What do you think?

You are correct - education is the key.

People need to understand that CO2 cannot cause the sorts of "catastrophic Global Warming" that the alarmists predict. If we double the atmospheric concentration of CO2 from pre-industrial levels (that is, make it rise from 280ppmv to 560 ppmv) we will get MAYBE 1.5 degrees C of warming (it's currently 380 ppmv, so we've seen about 70% of the increase we'll get as CO2 heat absorption is a logarithmic process).

You also need to understand that if Greenland's ice-sheet were converted at 100% efficiency to liquid water by the sunlight that falls there, it would still take 12,000 years to melt it.

You need to be taught that the Antarctic Sea Ice reached RECORD LEVELS this year, and the Ice Mass of Antarctica is GROWING, not falling.

Only by educating yourself on the BENEFITS of a warmer world (more farmland, longer growing season, less severe tropical cyclones) and a higher level of CO2 in the atmosphere (hardier plant growth in arid conditions, later autumnal loss of foliage, earlier growth in spring, effectively extending the growing season and accelerating plant growth) will you come to understand that there's really not MUCH to worry about.

Global Warming is a model. Computers are give imputs and the computer outputs GW. It does not matter if you are for GW or against it. We are running out of oil, coal, gold, copper, iron ore... We have to focus on the good things. We can solve our problems! But we have to get on some what the same page. Here is what we know: Blacktop (roads and parking lots) and buildings heat cities; Air pollution causes lung (And other) diseases, deforestation (causing more destruction -duststorms, hurricanes/cyclones all increasing deforestation) and destroys the ozone layer while heating earth surface; fires cause mud slides, deforestation and pollution-more heating surface temperatures; CFC's destroy the ozone layer raising skin cancer rates and killing off endanger species and increased surface temperatures; lighting produces ozone near the surface and raises air pollution levels-more heating, the suns increased magnetic field are causing increases in earthquakes (more destruction), volcanoes (wow), sun spots and more heating. Cars, airplanes, ships and most electricity production causes pollution, warmer temperatures and destruction...But most of this is in our control outside of the sun (Volcanoes and earthquakes are part of the sun magnetic strength): We need to fix it! That is why I founded CoolingEarth.org an geoengineering web sight. The Mayor's are on the right track, we can have control and economic growth. The fed gov is way out of step. We also need a pollution surcharge to balance the field and advance new technologies. Where we are with global warming has never happened before. CO2 has never lead to temperature change, but temperature change has led to increases in CO2. The models are having to be made without any evidence! Enjoy life

Natural Cycle.

I grew up reading every book I could on dinosaurs ands woolly mammoth and study earth science before it became politicized and so I know that the world was both warmer and cooler than it is today.

I also remember the fear mongering of the next ice age of the early 80's. Fool me once. I just don't trust the hype today.

I am all for new green technology, just not doing it out of fear.

For Ed S, who remembered visiting Switzerland and that the glaciers that were there are half melted. When these glaciers receded do you know what they found? Prehistoric mines, meaning that before there were glaciers there was a climate temperate enough for humans to be there and open a mine. Hence, a cycle.

I live in central MS and the low last night was 25 deg. If there is global warming I hope it gets here very soon.

I did this paper at school that said cow burping are causing global warming.

I think that climate change is natural and is cyclical. Human activity has little, if any effect. That said, I believe in not wasting the environment or our resources. So I am careful and as efficient as I can be. Which is more than Al Gore can say.

Unfortunately, Mr. Gore has turned environmentalism (specifically global warming) into a religion.

global warming is occurring its a fact. Their has been study after study that backs it up with the results being confirmed by yet more studies. All you can argue is that the thousands of the worlds smartest scientists are lying to us.

Paleoclimatology is telling us this is happening. There is not argument against it other than bogus claims

GW is happening

I remember when I was a little boy my family took me to a trip to Switzerland, I remember seeing these pretty glaciers

Well today they are either half melted ro completely gone, so sad

The thing that is more debatable is whether GW is caused by humans or natural

Well i think it's humans, sorry. Scientific evidence piles up year after year that only humans can be the cause of this
Cars, deforestation, even plane trails cause certain atmosphere modification that increases the greenhouse effect

I'm all for it.

It's currently 25 degrees and windy where I am - a bit of warmth would be welcomed.
