family assistance?

I have a cousin who is having a hard time supporting her family right now. She and her husband are both working but their bills are starting to pile up. Does anyone know about any government assistance programs to help pay bills?

Go to the local food stamp office and talk to them.

Also, it helps if you don't create bills you can't pay. Can't pay the phone bill, don't have a phone. Can't pay for TV, don't have one, etc.

Where you from? New Zealand has in work for familys with IRD could be a help
