Umm if your thinking of Scotch(single malt) Isle of Jura is good and it runs bout 20 to 30 a bottle, and glenlevit is the same range.

Remember single malts are more expensive. And Scotch whiskey is cheaper. Like Johnny walker red it runs bout $20 a bottle, because their blends.

Also remember that the price of Scotch is going up every year because they didnt make enough 5 years ago and the demand is high. It takes anywhere from 5-20 years to get to the shelves, and its becoming more and more populer here in the states.

Chivas
Glenlivet
and a very inexpensive blend Old Smuggler - my father drank Dewars White for years and said Old Smuggler was better. I have had it several times and it is at least as good.

This kind of depends what you're looking for. Blended Scotchs are usually less expensive - but the world of Single Malts is expanding because of the tremendous demand from the US and Asia ergo the prices on them are getting more competitive. Don't be intimidated by the bottles running $80 - 400. Look for something at least 10 years old in Single Malts - and on blends - just find a respectable name.

Blended:
Chivas Regal is a very basic - but decent blended scotch that's around $30

Johnnie Walker Black is probably the best JW you'll get for the price. I use it to mix.

Single Malts
Aberfeldy 12 year is an amazing single malt for the price and you can normally find it for right around 30 bucks

Glenfidich 12 is pretty good for the price range.

I'm not a fan of Glenlivet - but Glenkinchie has a great 10 year (but you might pay up to 40 or 45)

Dalmore Cigar Malt - I tried this single malt a couple of months ago - and for the price it's not bad - $35

Just keep in mind - just because a scotch starts with "glen" doesn't make it a good malt. Stay away from the generics - like Grants, McCormicks, Cutty Sark (i know - not a generic - but still not very good)

Cheers!
