Yes, that's pretty much the defining characteristic of what a deist is. If they didn't agree on that, then they wouldn't be considered deists.

It would depends upon the theology of a particular theist. IN many philosophies from around the globe though the universe is a direct manifestion of the SPIRIT, so its an on going program.

There are a few cults that do seem to say that their god gave them some instructions a few thousand years ago, and then left for some reasons. Basically, making people cling to THAT time period.

Though personally I have never really understood such cult mentality. If your god isn't EVERYWHERE why bother? Hehheee like those of the conversion cults like christianity and islam. If ya need to go and show someone else your god, is it really EVERYWHERE?

God created [ set up ] the universe and all its physical laws. Being perfect they will never change.
If the most perfect person jumps off a cliff, they are still subject to gravity.
A good example is when Satan told jesus to jump off a cliff and be rescued by angels, because he was the son of God.
Jesus refused, knowing the outcome.
Jesus refused to put his Father, Jehovah God to the test, because to save jesus if he had jumped, Jehovah would have had to break his own set rules and laws.
That would be like admitting they are NOT permanently set.

I think that's what being a deist is. God, but no religion. No Interference. He's like a deadbeat dad. He brought you into existence but he doesn't pay any alimony.

I don't know if God interferes with the universe but I do not think He interferes with us here in any way.

Lots of natural phenomena interfere with the universe. Gravity, Atoms, Our Sun, the activity of other galaxies and space debris, of course ourselves too. As humans we are both observers and interactive. We can observe change and we can cause change. If God is thought, he is also action and effect.

that is the main doctrine but some Deists do not accept everyone's version. Deism is about acceptance of reason in our daily lives. As science makes more advances in knowledge, we change our doctrine to keep up. Reason triumphs over faith.
