im muslim, and my best friend is lutheran and the other day she told me that in christianity its a sin to commit adultry (as it is in islam). so if its against your religion, WHY ARE PEOPLE STILL DOING IT?

Because they are hypocrites.
It is against their religion to eat pork, yet they still do it.

People commit adultry for the same reason people commit any other sin, its fun! Sin is fun, this may shock people but everyone deep down, even the most commited Christian or muslin, knows this is true. If sin was not fun, why is it so tempting? Satan knows that desires that he throws at us, are the exact thing that our bodies find desirable. The step that most spiritual people forget is that the desire and fun and enjoyment that we as humans feel, is just temporary. No only is it temporary but it is hurtful. All sin effect three parties, ourselves, our fellow man, and God.
It is through continued restrengthening (I am not sure that is even a word) by God that we can have the strength to overcome those temptation. We must remember, even though we feel weak and unable to resist temptations, the Bible also says that God will not tempted us beyond what we can handle.

Why do people do anything that is wrong? Many people are very caught up in the flesh so to speak and find the lure of stepping out irresistable. I believe that we are tempted on a daily basis with a host of sins, from anger on. It is when we learn to allow Jesus to lead our decisions that you will see a moral improvement among Christians.

Do you mean why are Muslims still doing it? I'm not sure. I'm a Christian and I have been faithful to my wife for almost twenty years now. Not sure about why a Muslim may see it differently though. I hope you find the answer.

Why do some Muslims drink? People have a real tendency to sin. Just because we don't WANT to in our spirit doesn't mean that the flesh won't occasionally get the upper hand.

Many people in our culture call themselves christian when they don't follow the word of God.
You could compare that do muslim who murder innocent people and say they are following their religion, it just gives true believers a bad name.

because people are becoming lax in their religion and believe that what they see happening on t.v. and in the world now is ok so that they can do it to and that there is nothing wrong with it.
also a lot of people have lost some of their morals

Because we are just sinners saved by grace. We still have the sin nature. Another reason is that people do not take God serious.
