ok so im throwing my son a birthday party hes turning 3 for all the freinds and family were going to have it at the house this year instead of renting a place out but were going to rent bouncy houses and other amusment stuff to go outside. we usually start planning in october and its in march, and we always get a teired cake and go all out on presents, we've actually scaled back some since his first birthday but i was wondering what a good theme would be? because its getting so close i have to still order personalized things for the goodey bags and his birthday banner for the yard, but i need so ideas for a theme, the first year was circus theme, the 2nd year was spongebob for one party and the other was thomas, (we had to have 2 parties that year for family reasons) or any other kind of ideas would be great! thanks so much

oh and some new food ideas would be great, since we usually serve about 100 people, the first year was catered so that was easy but if u have ideas for that also that would be great

why so big for such a little child??
EDIT!
Having 100 people at a toddlers party…is sad! Sounds like you’re a Momma who is showing off! Kids at that age its over stimulates there brain. You should keep it small and simple. Let your kid pick out the theme have cake some thing small to eat and have a nice quiet day with close family and friends. No need to have 100 people there!!! Any kid would love lots of toys and rides…go to Chuckie Cheese for an afternoon. But to have it at a party! Is over board! Why not save the big parties for the special dates 16, 18, 21. His Graduation, Wedding and a few more!
I was told I would never have kids by 3 Drs and now I am on my 3rd! I don’t go all out on my kids birthday. On the birthDAY we daddy, mommy birthday girl, and sister “currently Prego #3” go to dinner there choice and a movie! Saturday after Grandparents and 1st aunts and 1 st uncles comes over for lunch there choice!!! And cake there choice we have chat, eat, open presents not over board, cake and have fun. My girls put together the goodie bags they picked out toys and candy and have a blast!!! They all have fun and love it!!!!
You don’t have to go big to show your love!

My son is having his first b-day party next weekend, and I began planning it in June.
I'm sure a lot of peple will tell you you are going overboard, but it's your child, and you have a right to celebrate the day of his birth any way you and he see fit.
I have hired an entertainer so that I can actually enjoy the party as opposed to running around like a chicken with my head cut off. Diego is also coming (Go, Diego, Go) to take pictures with the children. My son is biracial, and we are embracing both sides of his culture by having the Latina entertainer as well as Diego.
I personally am not doing themed loot bags, but more age appropriate ones. Each child gets a craft and a book, but everything else is from the dollar store.
I am giving my son his own cake, as he eats organic and sugar free, but am just getting a cupcake cake for everyone else. They are just as beautiful as a regular cake, but no cutting involved!
At 3 years old, your son is able to tell you what he likes and doesn't like, so now is a great time to work together to have a party you'll both love. Ask him for his input and he'll enjoy the party even more! He can choose his own theme.
As mentioned before, I'd really recommend an entertainer so that you can actually enjoy the party.

you do not have to go all out. All a kid wants is friends family, presents and a cake. You do all this you will feel you have to top it every year. There are people in the world who would love a cup of cooked rice to eat and here you are going all out like this, I am sorry but he is 3! It is not an 18th. It is the simple parties that kids talk about. My daughter had a purple party with sack races, pin the tail , and they did there own cooking and decorating of biscuits. The kids talked about it for weeks as the best party ever. Kids don't need all that.
I am pleased you got a child that you never thought you would have and i am sorry for your loss but just keep it simple. Make the day enjoyable for you too. Kids don't care what their lollybag looks like...only what is in it. As for a teired cake! You know the cake my 8 year olds talk about the most? It was a no.7 i made and iced and gave them heaps of lollies they put on it. Thats all they want now. All the kids loved it. Keep it simple keep it fun

Thow a western Party!! Find a Place which you can rent Pony and all the kids can get Pony rides!!! By using the western theme you can have a BBQ cook out with Hamburgers and Hotdogs!! Have side dishes to compliment the BBQ!! Instead of Goodie Bags!! Get the kids attending the Party and your Son A straw cowboy hat!!!
ON the Banner Sons name wildwest birthday Party. Have Plastic horseshoes for the kids to play!!!
This will be fun for all and orginal!!

NO CLOWNS! Some kids are afraid of that. How about a sports theme or an educational theme. How about using a country as a theme. You don't wanna get a child tooooo hooked up on Television. For food, you can serve mini burgers, mini hot dogs for the kids or you use your son's favourite food. You can also try a little fun contest for the kids or the adults to keep them entertained.
Good Luck, be safe and wish your son a happy birthday for me!

I really like having big birthday parties for my kids, I dont know about this BIG, but I think a good theme for a 3 year old is maybe Finding Nemo. My sons 3rd birthday was Buzz Lightyear because he was totally into toy story and buzz was his favorite character. Finding nemo and the whole fish thing is really cute and probably easy to find stuff for a party. alot of 3 year old boys are into Go Diego Go also.

When my youngest turned 2, I threw him a cowboy themed party. It was held at a local equestrian park (where they had a petting zoo and pony rides). I did handmade invites with a western/picnic theme. Every child got a straw cowboy hat and the goodie bags were wrapped in bandanas. Each bag had a pair of plastic handcuffs, a pack of fuzzy mustaches, 2 pre-wrapped buttermints that were wrapped in red/white picnic gingham (thanks to the local party supply store), a plastic gold badge and a resin horse...because every cowboy/girl needs a HORSE!
I kept the food simple because we were outdoors and this was a picnic. I ordered fried chicken, a HUGE sandwich tray, a HUGE fruit platter and had plenty of chips to go around...bottled water, boxed juice for the kids and soda. Instead of having a cake, I ordered a cupcake cake...it's decorated on top to look like a cake, but they pull apart - no cutting and less of a mess.
Each child got 5 pony rides and unlimited access to the petting zoo. EVERYONE loved it! Oriental Trading had everything I needed...all the way down to the paper products!
Oh yeah, there's nothing wrong with planning in advance. My son's birthday is in July...I started planning in January. I've got party planning down to a science...

Wow. I think you should probably step back and read the Berenstein Bears Too Much Birthday book. But as for theme ideas- Blues Clues, superheros, Transformers, the beach, Lion King, the Incredibles, Finding Nemo... anything, really.

Yah myfirst b-day was like that. And well.. You could have a mini ammusment park theme. Get a farris wheel rented and get ponies, and stuff like that.He will love it ! Heres some more..
1. His fave t.v show
2. Get his fave character to come in ( like barney or w/e) and then have that theme.
3. ROCKERStyle theme.
SO ya good luck!

This could be a priority thing, but maybe spend less time on planning the party, and looking more for someone to date thats father material and not married.
come on, especially if this married guys a dad
the people you let into your childs life and the role model you are to them, mean far more to them than any presents
and dating - not all married people still date
