It is even more disheartening that these skewed views are radically altering our foreign policy objectives, and in the process causing the needless loss of precious human life.
Christian Zionists, and their apocalyptic visions, are rooted in a fatalist mentality. Examine the heart of Christian eschatology, and what you will discover is a hatred of this life. These people are looking for any sign, no matter how vague, to validate their view that the world will soon come to an end because, for some reason they feel disconnected from this life, and find it burdensome. Instead of grappling with the vicissitudes of life, like the rest of us, they would rather envision a swift end, which will be preceded by destruction and carnage. They twist biblical passages to conform to modern day events, when any sensible person can see that these passages only refer to events that are contemporaneous with the times in which they are written and do not foretell the future.
