I have two things that I think would have a dramatic effect (for the good). These two changes alone would improve Americans lives, our health, our family, our society, the enviroment and the price of fuel. These two changes would be painless for the average individual. The only people who would not like it are the super wealthy and the super lazy. You may laugh at me but I doubt you could dispute me. The benefits are almost immeasureable. Please think about it and don't dismiss it.
1-Ban all non-esstential work for one day a week, Sunday or any other day
2- Ban drive thru restuarants
The energy savings would be phenominal, gas prices would plunge. The family would strengthen as would the atmosphere from one day of rest. Lazy people would have to turn off their automobiles to walk for the fat laden fast food (health improvement). The list goes on. These two things practically didn't even exist 50 years ago and niether did global warming. Let's start a new lobby and make it happen.

I know you mean well, I really do. However, your plan is dead before it was born. Basically, it's self-aborting.

First, industry has too much to lose by shutting down one day a week. This is a bad idea because while it would make a minimal impact on the environment, the repercussions on the economy would be disastrous. It would never happen.

Second, the instant you tell people that they have to sacrifice a personal convenience (such as using a drive-through) in order to do some good, you've lost their interest. People are very gung-ho about doing decent things, as long as it's "someone else" making the sacrifices and doing those things.

Two other points that I think need to be mentioned here:
1) Political lobbying doesn't need to increase it's ranks in Washington. In fact, if anything, we need to do away with the practice altogether. There's too much deal-making happening between the lobbyists and the politicians, and the only 'green' that politicians really care about is folded-up in their wallets.
2) Global warming is a pet cause, a trend, a favorite focus for a generation, but it's not nearly as bad as Al Gore and a bunch of liberally-funded scientists would have you believe. I don't consider the mean atmospheric temperature rising .73 degrees over 110 years to be anything to be alarmed about, especially considering that 18 years ago, it was down .15 degrees. It goes up and down over time, but because it's up right now, alarmists are acting like Earth will burst into flames any moment if I don't buy a hybrid car immediately. I'm not sure how all these "highly-educated scientists" can live on a planet that spins on an axis while travelling in an eliptical orbit, and still not grasp the concept that things happen in cycles. By their logic and plans, if we were to do everything they suggest, then we would not only halt 'global warming,' but also usher in 'global cooling,' which would actually be worse.

Global warming existed long before fifty years ago, Al Gore and other clowns just started using it lately to scare people. As so far as starting a lobby, enough people are hip to the truth, so try another myth, chief.

Typical eco-nazi power grab. Identify a non-existent "problem" and then propose a heavy-handed government solution, ignoring whether the problem really exists or the solution is any better.

I'm betting you were in favor of banning DDT, too, despite the millions who have died of malaria in Africa as a result, DESPITE the fact that the SCIENCE never justified such a ban.

worldwide Warming is a LIE promoted by potential of whom?? examine out who's pushing this... and you will discover the answer. Conservatives understand its a lie. There are merely as many study showing its fake as they might drum up that its authentic. The earth has been changing constantly, heating and cooling up for years.
