I am adjusting my child support. My ex made 3 times what I made last year but is gave a 1099 to her boyfriend (at the time) to offset her income. I got a copy of her taxes but the 1096 form isn't signed or dated and the taxes are dated 4/15/07. CSS requested tax returns in march and she said they werent done. I understand that, But in May when they requested again she said they weren't done. So if they are dated 4/15 and I recieved a "copy" on Nov. 5th makes me wonder if she redid her taxes to hide her actual income. Is there any way to find out if the taxes I have are true?

SHE (not you) can request a computerized transcript of her tax return which will show what she originally filed. SHE can request and account transcript which will show if the return was ever amended or changed by the IRS. You cannot force her to get these copies and give them to you (though the court can.)

The schedule C (if she is self-employed) will generally show if she paid wages or compensation to someone else. It will not show the name(s) of the person(s) paid.

You need your ex to sign IRS form 4506 (you can get this from the IRS.GOV site). This form requests that the IRS send a copy of a previously filed tax return (or a transcript of the return) to whoever the taxpayer wants.

In other words the form directs the IRS to send a copy of your ex's 2006 tax return to you.

This is what mortgage companies do when you apply for a loan.

There are other steps you can take if you belive the return is fraudulent - however, this should be done through an attorney.

Not sure but try calling the IRS if nothing else it might get her audited.
