A camera that will not function until the owner has read the Owner's Manual.
The camera will give the owner a test and the owner will have to score 90% or higher before the camera will function.
After all, you don't get a driver's license until you pass a test.
I liked the response "make them simpler". We had simple with film cameras. I use a simple camera every time I venture out on a photography day. I choose an f-stop, the camera chooses the shutter speed. We play well together.

You know, I've heard that some camera manufacturers are working on algorithms to evaluate content that would give beeps or some kind of signal if the composition was outside of accepted standards. Weird.
Sometimes buyers require boring pictures, though, so I hope BPL has an on and off setting.
Vince, you are suggesting a feature that I have recommended on Yahoo! Answers many times, as in, "Get a time machine and..." Way to go!

I want my camera to magically appear in my hand and be turned on and ready to go every time my daughter does something adorable. It seems most of the time, when she does do something worth taking a picture of, that'll be the day I left it at home.

A time delay that works backwards, so that I can go back and reshoot images that I didn't realize were badly messed up until I upload my images into my system.
"How do I increase the resolution of a picture?" By going back in time and shooting it in a higher resolution.
"How to I take out the blur in a picture?" By going back in time and shooting it without the blur.
"How do I fix this picture so my friend's eyes are open?" By going back in time ....
"How do I make this picture black and white with only one part in color?" By going back .... No wait. That's another feature I wish people could have.

I love b&w and wouldn't mind living in the dark room but since it's all about digital now, I would love a camera that has both film and digital capabilites. But it has to be resonably sized and not like 2 cameras glued together.

Alternative heads that you can pop up to replace any dubious ones that are in front of you.
A wrong finger alarm... "you are using the WRONG finger!"
And finally the "Someone please find me a new home" feature for cameras that are sick of belonging to the photographically challenged.
Hmm, I think my poor camera belongs in the latter category.

I would want it to have "look out for unexpected things automatic picture takerness" so that it could take pictures of interesting stuff that we all usually see by the time its too late to take the picture.

a brooks degree would be nice, a sound knowledge of lighting and art,
then i would get some nice images
