Is there a reason, or is she just having fun and/or trying to escape?

Please ignore the person who said the bird should only be out 5 to 10 minutes a day. A bird can be out of its cage all day long, as long as it is supervised and the house is "bird-safe" so it does not get hurt. You should also get her wings clipped if you leave her out of the cage. http://www.birdsnways.com/wisdom/ww19eii.htm

Some birds chew on the bars of its cage out of boredom, some just out of habit. Give it other things to chew on. When in the cage, it needs lots of toys to play with, especially small wooden and leather toys to chew on. It also needs lots of different types of food, not only for its nutrition, but to keep its interest. And it needs a cuttle bone and a beak conditioner block.

Also, watch her when she eats. If it looks like she is having problems, have your certified avian vet check her for beak problems - sometimes the beak is overgrown or misaligned and that can cause problems.

Yeah... She Probably just wants to get out... you should take her out be careful tho, they should only be out for five to ten minutes a day

Also, she could be trying to straighten her beak, you should get her some chew toys if she is njot trying to get out of there, open the cage to be sure she wants to get out..

Does your parakeet have a cuttlebone to sharpen her beak on? Or maybe she just needs some toys to entertain her.

Because she doesn't have enough toys to chew on.

Probably because you didn't give him anything else to chew on.
