This is a question from my mother! She's really into poker and loves to go to tournaments, and she'd like to plan a trip to California to play poker and stay in a nice hotel (she's into hotels, too!). She'd like a place where she could go to various tournaments in a weekend, so she's wondering if there's some particular city or area where there'd be a lot going on closeby. She'd also like to find a nice hotel with an indoor pool (since she's hoping to go this winter). Any advice or recommendations would be appreciated!! Thank you! :)

Well if she doesn't want to go to Las Vegas, there a lots of casinos in the L.A. area. Commerce Casino, which is on the world poker tour, the Bicycle Casino, the Chumash Casino up toward Santa Barbara and a bunch of others. they all should have hotels with pools....

You can always check out one of the many Indian casinos in San Diego area

I'm not sure which ones have the accommodations that you want so be sure to research first, but it's a better bet than most in the LA area because some of them have hotels at the casino.

Plus you can smoke in most of the Indian casinos- something that you won't be able to do in LA

There are plenty of Indian casinos in San Diego County and in the Coachella Valley, as well as Santa Ynez (north of Santa Barbara). There are also card clubs in Commerce and Gardena.
