I remember reading/hearing somewhere that it was possible to record yourself playing a ps2 game with a DVD player. For example: record the gameplay of guitar hero 2 using a dvd player. Basically I want to record the playing of Guitar Hero 2 directly rather than using a video camera. Heres a video example:

Note: I don't want to use the product "Gamebridge"

If you have DVD-recorder, than plug in your PS2 into appropriate plugs (video in (yellow), audio in (red and white) or via SCART adapter. There you go.

Only, (Read ONLY), on the 60GB version can you play PS2 games on, and it is usually slightly more expensive on Ebay for this. I don't know how the blu-ray compares with other Blu-ray players. But its better then the DVD player, And I'd suggest that you'd get the PS3 Blu-Ray Remote, as its much easier then then the Dualshock 3 controller. In fact, I use it for any Blu-ray or DVDs I play. You might find a 40 or 80GB non-backwards compatible version for under £250 now, due to the new larger HDD Slim versions, but not the 60GB.

if you can record things on your dvd player then you need to hook up the ps2 to the dvd player with the AV wires then hook up the dvd player to the tv then put in a blank dvd and then hit record while you are playing. try that way. it works with VCRs but not too sure with dvd players. doesnt hurt to try.
hope i helped

I think you connect the SCART lead from your PS2 into the DVD player, if it has a SCART input, instead of the TV and then connect the DVD player to the PS3. This should hopefully allow you to record as you play.
