It's all about opinion and there is no right or wrong answer, only preferences of different people.
Mine is (at 48) to be pretty conservative, tho I do like handmade and rather "wearable art" type stuff. It does depend too on where I'm going and who with.
I actually don't even wear short sleeves or short skirts or pants, simply because I think I look best in other things. Some women can wear almost anything and look respectable, some can't no matter what they do.
But I don't think that anyone can guess another's motives or say they are only trying to compete with younger women. Why shouldn't we all be OK to wear anything that makes us happy? Why does anyone think that only women of a certain age can dress a certain way? Maybe we shouldn't judge each other by our clothes.
For me, I just want to know I look pretty good in whatever it is, so I want my sweatshirt to fit as well as a formal. I think it's more important to express ourselves than to decide that this is for a 14 year old, that for a 80 year old
I could turn 90 and you won't catch me in a house dress (or panties for that matter). To each her won.

As an older woman myself (46 to be exact) I do not feel that older women who dress like teens even come close to cute!
Even if they have a teens body shape How do they expect to get people's respect. For me, by the time I reached 21 I realized that my young girls figure was gone once I had my first daughter. For the women that dress like teens they have to have some issues that cause them to think that they are younger than they really are.

It depends. I think I look cute in teen clothes. Well, some of them. IF it flatters a woman's figure, then y not? But most older women in india have flabby belly's and they shouldn't be wearing half shirts. I mean, u know, a sari can be sexy if worn properly and is on the right body.

No. Actually i find it disgusting because they are attempting to act like little girls when they are women. I think they should shop for clothes in their own section not juniors section. it does not matter whether it a conservative outfit or the one that shows a lot. they can have a great look and people will respect them at the same time they can be cute, sexy or modest.
shop in areas that are designed for their age.

No, not really. It is just like trying to stay young when face and skin can't hide. But if you put it the other way around, say young girls wearing grandmas dress or wearing old blouse and jeans say World War II era looks, those are cute.

It depends on what you mean by dress like teens. My wife is 44 and when she dresses in jeans and a tee shirt she can pull of 20 something easy. I've seen some heavy ladies that look pretty silly when they try it.

It is not that they want to keep up with the competition, it is the fact that some people are young in spirit, they are not trying to be cute, they just reflecting their inner youth, just like some young people look much older than they are because they found no joy in life

They would not necessarily look nicer in conservative clothes, but dressing up in your age group is better.

There's a time and place for everything. If it's the weekend and are going to a party and have the figure for the younger clothes styles, what does it hurt. Hopefully, they know what they can handle and what they can't.

I think it looks just like what you said. Older woman dressing like a teen. Not complimentary. There is a difference in being current and modern as opposed to trendy teen stuff. It only makes them look older.
