To tone up you need to exercise. Dieting won't tone your muscles.
In order to lose weight, if you don't want to count calories, all you need to do is eat only healthy foods, fruits, vegetables, meats & fish, nuts, beans, and oats, and don't eat any sweets, sugar, breads, noodles, white rice, potatoes, ice cream, or drink sodas.
And you don't have to clean your plate, it's better to let it go to "waste" than your "waist".

First thing is to make sure your exercising more. 30 minutes, 3-5 times a week. No, you don't need to count calories. Just eat healthier foods, drink plenty of water, and stop eating when you're full. 5 smaller meals a day is recommended over 3 larger meals. Stay AWAY from excess carbs like sugary drinks, pasta, pizza, doughnuts, bagels, etc.

I joined weight watchers and don't count points- I just really watch what I eat and see the results from week to week- what works what doesn't.
I have lost 11 lbs in 8 weeks and am 4 away from my 10% target.
Keep weighing yourself the same time everyday. That will tell you if what your doing is working or not.
Good luck.

counting calories can be a bit obsessive and it might lead you on the wrong path. if you want to tone up i suggest you have a more protein diet, and to just stop eating when you are full.

I think that you should be focusing on a healthy lifestyle, not a lower number on the scale. It's not about making sure you don't eat too much.. its about choosing healthy foods so that you have energy and feel good about your over all health. This is so much easier said than done.
Good luck.

Don't count calories. That stresses you out, and you may under eat. It doesn't matter how many calories it is if it's healthy calories, and you work off the splurge calories with good exercise. I hope that helps.

I don't believe you should have to count calories. If you do, you'll become obsessed with it. Maybe you should ask a nutritionist to set the best meal plan for you.
