It is doing this coz it is bored. It needs lots of exercise before you go to work, toys and chews to entertain it while you are at work and more exercise when you come home. You did'nt expect an easy ride, did you ?

It may be getting bored and restless and angry being left alone.
If you are not walking it daily for at least 30 minutes, I'd bet this is the core of the problem. I'd recommend walking it at least 30 minutes a day on a short leash so it understands it's position in the pack.
The other person is also correct that it could be his tummy. Does he eat grass and similar when outside? I'm guessing probably not hence my thought that he's not happy about the situation.
If you do the walk on the sort leash thing and it doesn't change, you may consider segregating it, but that should be a last resort if its used to having the run of the house.
If you already are walking it on a short leash each day, then try moving it to a place without plants.

Is he outside all day by himself? He is looking for something to do because he is bored. Give him lots of exercise before going to work so he can use up some energy. Have several good chew toys available that he only gets while you are gone. Maybe someone can stop by during the day to play with him or take him for a walk? Bored dogs will often find things to do that we consider bad behavior, when all they are doing is trying to find something to do--many dig, bark, chew, etc.

it means its sick usually and it eats the grass to help it throw up but if you dont want it eating grass then either put it inside in a cage or on a chain on a patio or porch where the grass cant be reached

You could try leaving him some toys to play with, especially those ones where you put something tasty for them (like peanut butter) inside of the toy so they have to spend a lot of time and energy trying to get at it.

that's either because he has a stomach bug, or he is stressed because you leave him alone too long. Take him out for longer walks and make sure he gets enough exercise. also take him to an obedience class.

keep him inside where he belongs & is safe. if you are gone for more than 6 hours - a dog walker would help.
how about a couple days of doggie day care every week.
