Are they good or bad? Throw them out at someone who believes differently, and all you get is a different interpretation, and more verses thrown back. Should the Bible be used like this?

You're getting a lot of lectures from people who seem to think you are attacking the Bible or something... Actually, it's human nature that is the problem. People can convince themselves of anything and no two people see things in the same way. That's why there needs to be an agreed upon authority to interpret the Bible. If people can't agree on the interpretor, then it's hopeless to get them to agree on the interpretation. People will try to skirt this issue by saying "Well, the Holy Spirit told ME what it means." but that doesn't work when the other person could sincerely state the same.

Look at the Bible Historically. Look at the Bible today compared with the history that we have and the archaeological work that has been done and determine whether or not the Bible lines up with history and archeology. The Bible gives a lot of insight historically. Even if the Bible stories weren't true, it does provide a lot of Historical proof. However, if we examine the historicity of the Bible and we find it to be true in those cases, then we can logically determine the other parts may contain truth as well.

proof texts?

There are some things that are black and white.

First - Either God is or He is not?
Second - If He is - then he is everything or nothing?
Third - If He is everything - He either penned the bible or He did not?
Fourth - If He did pen the bible then it is accurate. Fifth - If the bible is accurate then it is His word to us.
Sixth - If the Bible is His letter to us - Should we not do our very best to learn and act on His Word?
Seventh - If we do not learn the Word of God then we are not doing what God asks us to do?

There is one verse that stands out regarding the luke warm anything is okay that many of today's "christians" knuckle under to to fit in or why ever.

Revelation 21:8
But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

In the verse "fearful" are the people that give into false doctrines such as anything goes smorgasboard jello "christians", or the spewings of a demonically inspired doctrinally polluted translations New World or old world or any old trash that can sell because it tickles the ear.

Just a brief reminder: the foundation of Christianity isn't the Bible, but rather God Himself. The cornerstone is Peter.

I get a little nervous when people appear to be worshipping the Bible and lack a personal relationship with God. The Bible is tool that God uses to speak to us - but it isn't His only tool.

Prayer and Communion are superior.

As I have not seen any creditable "proof" for the Bible, I reserve judgement until I see them and research the claims. Using verses from the Bible to prove it, is often a circular arguement.

The Holy Bible is Gods word. But it is spiritually discerned. If you are not a Born AGain Christian you will not understand a lot of what Jesus is saying and you will not have the Power to live what the Bible says. Jesus said in John 3:3 that ye must be Born Again, Spiritually, Romans 10:9 is a good definition of that, it says
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Verse 10, For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. When we are Born AGain our hearts are convicted of all the sins and aweful things we have done but with confession Jesus removes the burden and moves into our hearts setting us free. He fills our hearts with joy and peace and a love for others, it gives you a kindness or gentleness about you, It can only come from Jesus Christ. Would you like to have Jesus in your heart, and be Born Again. You can right now, if you feel that tug in your heart Jesus is saying to you today is the day, just pray this pray and a new life will start, just pray Dear Jesus, I know and confess that I am sinner in need of salvation. I believe you died on a cross at calvery and arose from the grave to wash away my sins, I ask you right now to come into my heart and save me, I pray this Prayer believing in the name of Jesus Amen. If you prayed this prayer with a sincere heart you are now a child of God, rejoice that your name is written in the Lambs book of Life. Jesus will now send his Holy Spirit to come and live in your heart and guide you into all truth. If you have any questions just send me an email, God Bless YOU!!

Only with someone who is sincerely asking. Otherwise, it's just argument for the joy of arguing.
