Depends on whom you're asking. I've asked people about what their faith means, and had my face chewed off.(figuratively, of course). Good questions designed to learn about and enhance someone's faith is always welcome.

I was always tought to question everything, now i will full well admit that i am a scientist and employed in the pharmactical field and with that training i find faith to be incompatible with my life. The question i always find my self asking is if people of faith belive in free will, why do they insist on abstence only education and restriction on condoms and birth control. The retail pharmacy i work at on weekends for extra money, (i do lab work during the week) keeps condoms locked up and they "suggest i keep young kids from buying them", i find this prihibition to be faith based and i will do nothing of the sort. If we are free to sin, we should be free to fornicate or to be homosexual or live as we see fit, i of course do not think these behavours or any other are sinful, as i reject the concept of sin. When you ask people about free will they often become upset and go to some preprogamed talking points from their churches corporate office.

No, if you do not question your faith, it is a blind faith.

Edit:
Sorry, answered the wrong question or from the wrong perspective. People asking questions about your beliefs are only harmful if you are unsure or need to learn to be patient and tolerant.

We should question everything. How else do we find the truth? Faith has absolutely nothing to do with truth.

when asked about their faith, some people become defensive, as if you are questioning them personally......... and they aren't ready to be under the gun......... so, you should ask if they are comfortable talking religion and faith in particular before going on that trek.........

No, it stengthend faith as it invokes further study, and encourages believers to delve deeper into that which they believe.

Not if the questions are sincere. If they're trolling questions, like some of those in the R&S, they can.
