The Mormons I know are mostly decent, sincere, and hardworking. They are dedicated to family and home. If everyone lived like the average Mormon the world would be a safer, friendlier place.

Unfortunately, they also tend to be naive and willing to obey rather than think.

However, I find the church's structure, leadership, history and theology disturbing.
Joseph Smith was a gold finder, which is something like a water witch. He had a reputation for dishonest practices.
His followers killed an entire wagon train of men, women and children because they were passing through Mormon territory.
The official church suppresses documents that reflect a truth that it doesn't like. To the point that in the '80s there was a con man living (well) on forging documents that were harmful to the church and selling them to be hidden or destroyed in the vaults of church headquarters.
The theology is not quite Christian and not quite New Age, but something between the two.

I think a lot of different things about mormons. I love the one I'm married to. I like them overall as a group, but if we're being honest here, just like with any group of people, there are a few I could do without.

I have met some nice Mormons, and a few mean, judgmental ones. You can't decide if you like a whole group of people or not by religion.

They have some good people and they have some bad people as members. Just like every other religion out there.

If you are talking about the religion and not the folks. I was born and raised in it and although they do have some great ideas, especially about family unity, they are based on lies and deceit. They use fear and guilt to control many aspects of their members (just like most religions do and most members wouldnt ever admit it or even see it really).

So basically, good family values...some good people but overall...not my cup of tea since I learned the reality of it all.

I am a mormon, and I think I am a pretty good person... FAR from perfect, but I try to do good things.

They wear bicycle helmets and bother me at home.

I do enjoy firing the first shot once they say hello. "I know why you are here, so have you ever considered atheism?" and hand them a copy of Stenger's "God, the failed hypothesis".

Works like a charm.

My cousin converted years ago and was furious that I answered her son's questions once he was 18. He's now atheist, too.
