Joe, You need to read more on the protest. This isn't just holding hands. This is destroying property as well as harassing the troops that are on those trains. There were already cases of Code Pink spitting on troops in airports a few months back.

So, yes, history is repeating itself...those that deserve the most respect are getting the least...at least from some sorry sons-of-beaches.

They are not harassing troops. They are trying to impede military cargo going in and out of the port. And I suspect, when the dust clears and the rest of the story gets out, that we will find they are mostly the same anarchists from Eugene, Oregon who were involved in the Seattle rioting during the World Trade Organization meetings there. On another point, none of these clowns were even alive during 'Nam.
The local police could resort to the use of the acoustical weapon recently used in Georgia to disperse them. But, I'm sure some civil rights group will consider it to be an inhumane act to subject anyone to repeated use of Barry Manilow's albums. LOL!

We did learn our lessons on how to treat our troops returning from the war. I think there have only been a few isolated cases of this happening as compared to the 60's and 70's. As with anything, there are going to be radicals who go to far and things like this happen.

Say what you want about the war, just dont disrespect the troops fighting it.

I live on McChord AFB and was appalled when I saw what they were doing... They should be shipped to another country for stopping the convoy from getting to Fort Lewis.... They destroyed stuff and kept those troops from getting their job done...They also injured a policeman.... I wish I could have went and smacked them around.... They say they are doing something good for our country.... BS.... If they want to do something good they can help families in need and donate to charities.... and yes history does seem to repeat itself....

No, the media is repeating itself. We can thank the media for calling them protesters, when they all are just cowards. How cowardly it is to harass heroic American troops returning home from hell on earth. The "PROTESTERS" could never understand what it's like to make such sacrifices as our beloved troops have. When all our troops want the most, getting back home to safety that they provide for us all, they get a bunch of cowards who are so ungrateful, yelling obscenities at them... it just makes me sick.

I piss on all you damn, dirty hippies!

RTO trainer- you made my day with that olympia webpage lol. I'm from BC myself so I know what laid back life is all about. Someone must have had a lot of free time to put that page together.
Oh btw, congress approved the Iraq invasion. Mail a letter to your congressman instead of harrassing soldiers who, by law, must obey their orders.

Hardly "harassing" returning troops....your phrasing is a bit absurd given the actual events that took place. I trust you meant to be ironic?

Since when are protesters holding hands "harrassing" an armored vehicle? One might ask.

And no, we didn't learn anything from Vietnam. Not enough, anyway.

So one more time I guess, into a useless, senseless war that wastes lives, money and treasure because of the blind miscalculations of a few demented and powerful men.

Sad, really sad.

At least protesters are passionate enough to put their butts on the line, not sitting in front of the tube watching the war like it was a reality TV show or mouthing off with tough-guy talk on a Yahoo board.

People who think dissent is treason deserve to live in chains, not as free men.

No one has the right to obstruct the military right of way. Our military is the very reason we have our basic freedoms. I am against any form of protest other than one conducted in Washington D.C., at the White House, where it belongs! People seem to forget that these men they protest against are just doing their duty as call for by their Commander in Chief, the President! These people are a disgrace to this nation & our military, who have served us well for many, many years!

I saw a news story on the protesters there and was appalled. In my opinion, those morons are certainly committing sedition if not outright treason and should be prosecuted. Hate the war but not the warriors.

Things are much better for returning vets these days compared to the Viet Nam days.

But there is a lot of anti war loonies who are against our government being in ANY WAR.
