Fortunately for you everything is measured and calculated...if you're overweight but under the fat % max requirement, you'll be okay. If not then you need to at least lower your fat %. As for your height, go to Army's Height/Weight Standards...when you look, you'll see that you'll be under the max requirement.
If you're up for the challenge...see the Marines Height/Weight Standards. Remember that overweight but under the fat...I was me that the whole time.

the slate story says the Army lowers recruit standards again no read the story they have not just lowered standards they are just getting more recruits at the lower standards they set a few years ago and being in the Army i see that this is a trend that is starting to move in the other direction standards are now creeping back up to where they once were at and the story says that a lot of these "dumb" recruits are weeding themselves out anyway lol you must be soo smart!...............ok i agree that there is a .1% over the 4% but if you want to know the truth about what is going on in the army right now look at recent recruiting numbers they are all over 100% for the Army and some are 120% so the Army is starting to do little things such as lower body fat standards (that means you cant be as fat anymore) and that is a supply and demand issue the more people you have the less you cater to them.....i think the bonuses are going to start coming down to

Im a 5'10 225lb mma fighter and i cant get in. They have a system where they measure your neck and waist then calculate a formula based on ur weight. Its not scientific but my recruiter says its the best way. I have to get down to 208lbs to join. Im in excellent shape but yes i have fat...I think the system is flawed but...oh and NO they arent taking anybody because of the upcoming elections and the surge of recruits when the war started.

Of course the Army will take you. If you are over-weight but military standards you will still make your tape requirements. Even though you will have to be "taped out" to make sure you're withen standards you will still be considered withen limits. Army weight standards don't take into account muscle weight which is why they have to tape people.
Provided you don't have any medical problems or legal/law problems you will be accepted.

Weight is not the only thing to take into consideration. Low body fat, they will do a tape measure on you.

Yes. It's not just height and weight they look at. If you fail the weight, they tape you to determine your percentage of body fat.
