My house is inside a cemetery (long story) and when there are funerals, people park in our yard and driveway. We can't get in or out to pick up our kids at school, etc. Plus, we're worried about liability if a tree limb or something falls on a car. We put up no parking and private property signs. The funeral directors aren't much help. If it were any other function than a funeral we'd have the cars towed, but that just seems too tacky under the circumstances. Suggestions for how to handle this in a decent manner? Thank you.

Grouch21--oh no, actually it's a great place when there aren't funerals. It's peaceful and quiet, and surrounded by trees, but the ice cream truck driver never stops.

They still park there even though there are signs?
Maybe if you know when a funeral is(I don't' know how frequent they are) you can pull your cars to the end of the driveway and maybe put up some barrier behind them about the size of a car and across the driveway(like a rectangle) so no car can park in front of the driveway so you can get out when you need to

the house i've always wanted to live in is in a cemetary. it's beautiful!

"private parking all others WILL be towed at owners expense"
after enough people give 'a piece of mind' to the funeral directors they will do something for you.
make sure the sign is at the end of your driveway.
get a bulldozer and put it at the end of your driveway by the sign. 'at owners expense' can mean whatever you want it to.

if you live in a small town just tell the town gissiper that you will start having cars towed. the rest of town will know by sundown tomorrow.
if you live in a bigger town or city have a few towed. or purchase a towtruck instead of the bulldozer with the same sign.
hey, you could get a business towing cars. you wouldn't have to go far to get to work and make killer bucks! lol.

How cool. I didn't know you could live in a cemetary. I'll bet it's nice and quiet. :)

Yes, it would be hard to yell at people when they're grieving the loss of a loved one.

I'd plant shrubs along the edge of the front yard and put up a small gate across the driveway. It would be a pain to have to open it up every time you want to leave or pull in, but at least it would keep others out.

Wow, what a predicament. I commend you for showing so much class and empathy for the people who are tress passing beings it's such a difficult time for them. But, you still have a dilemma. If you have a fairly good relationship with the funeral director perhaps they would be kind enough to share their funeral schedule with you on a weekly basis. This way you can try and plan around it (not that you should have to). I really hope you find a solution. Best of luck to you and yours.

The bible. I say this as a non non secular individual however the texts on faith are good examples of a thank you to narrate with human beings in a context of ethics and morality. Etiquette is in basic terms the forged ethics and morality of the day.

Build a fence around your property or just put a line a big rocks in the way so they can't drive over them.

Think the only thing you could do is put up barriers, cones, something of that sort to keep your driveway clear. There is nobody to talk to. Doesn't the cemetary want your land? That doesn't seem the greatest place to raise children.

It is hard to offer answers without seeing the exact layout but the first thought that comes to my mind is a fence or shrub rows, or a combination thereof.

try getting some of that caution tape in bright yellow and putting it where you need to keep people from being on your property.i've seen people use it for new pavement and field parking and crime scenes. so they shouldn't disturb it.than when you need to move a vehicle move and replace tape. a temporary answer, but better than nothing.
