I was an immigrant myself before becoming a citizen. While being a Resident Alien, if I had lost my Green Card I would be "an undocumented immigrant" but I would still be a legal one. Why isn't everybody loudly protesting against this (deliberate, I suspect) twisting of a subject by the so-called "immigrants' rights advocates"???

"UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANT: An "undocumented immigrant" is the same as an "illegal alien", and is a criminal under applicable U.S. laws."

No, it isn't. An unlicensed pharmacist might want to be a pharmacist who's performing responsibilities and not using a license. An undocumented worker, on the different hand, is not any different than an unlawful alien. for the reason that all of us comprehend the various words used for "unlawful extraterrestrial beings," i imagine it really is danger-free to flow on from the unnecessary waste of power in debating note determination. in case you want to be credible, locate something with substance.

They did studies and found that if you say 'immigrants' it is a more pro-illegal immigrant outcome (ignoring that most people don't think of ILLEGAL immigrants when someone says 'immigrants'.) They think 'undocumented' would be similarly neutral, but it is ridiculous.

Undocument is what a citizen born abroad is, if they don't file. They have the RIGHT to be here, just not the paperwork. Illegal immigrants have no right to be here, period.

Nice to hear the opinions of someone who has legally immigrated and naturalized. Thank you.

Anyhow, I don't care what they call it, the ones who have not followed our immigration laws need to return to their home country. All the pc names don't change the decisions they've made, or the laws they've disregarded.

Edit: To Red Angel - I understand your point, however I personally do not see it as a dehuminization. The word illegal is used to modify the word alien, not the person. Illegal, as defined in the Merriam-webster dictionary, is "not according to or authorized by law". So, I think it is an accurate term, defining their alien status - as not authorized by law. It is not meant as a derrogatory thing. While you may feel that the term undocumented is more correct, that does not mean that using illegal to modify alien is incorrect.

And, when a person uses "illegals" by itself, its just a shortened term, no different that when people use the term "anti's". A better word choice for "anti's", to be as close to pure definition as possible, would be "pro-law citizens".

Sorry - love a good debate... I had to bite. Its all good.

Red Angel

Looks like you need a dictionary as well. An illegal alien is NOT a race.
If you think it is, either you don't know the definition or you are apparently attempting to redefine the word so you can use the "racist" term where it doesn't apply.

You can thank the politically correct movement of the 1990's. That's about the time they stopped calling them illegal aliens.

Undocumented is the PC version, (Pure Chit) version that is. It's what the illegals want to be called.

because "undocumented" is a more precise word......human actions are illegal human beings are not

seriously Ive said it before and ill say it again don't antis own English dictionaries???

2ND most misused word,,,,racist

racist = only those Antis that hate based on RACE!!!

antis will try to hide and say we call ALL antis racist!! not so
some are not racist just wrong on the issue....hahaha j/k j/k

steedy voter.. OK, i understand how you feel about the law being broken, but the use of "illegal" is viewed by some as an issue unto itself not because of immigration but because it dehumanizes the person ...it is an attempt to make people's minds easier to shift since its not a person but an "illegal" its manipulation!!!........and that's why (ask any English or Philosophy or Logic professor, even those on your side, Ive had one that was) and they ll admit for Logic and correct reasoning's sake it is necessary to use the MOST PRECISE words.......so then, being that illegal is referent to a laws (concept) being broken, the action ITSELF is illegal, not the person...

it could be said ...that person CAME illegally....but NOT that person IS illegal
