wow, im truly imazed at how many people said no to this, i would have to say yes, it is appropriate, the violence in the game is less than you see on most movies, the language not nearly as bad as many movies, and come on, your not gonna be able to shelter him from these kinds of things much longer, this WILL NOT influence him in any way to change his behavior, its just a fun game that he would enjoy playing, dont make him miss out on probably the best first person shooter ever made, honestly, i played doom when i was 3 years old, and after that i played diablo, starcraft, warcraft, and quake, if i played all of those at the age of 3 and slightly older, i think its ok to allow him to play a M-Rated game. Honestly, i wouldnt ever worry about my kid buying an M-rated game, only seeing certain R-rated movies, hope i helped

I'm 15 & Have been playing the Call of Duty series for a looong long time ! They are NOTHING compared to an R rated movie, there really is like next to ZERO blood and I really can't think of more than 10-15 times they actually say a cuss word. And that's only in the story mode ! Most people play it online, and thats the best part (: Only thing is that people with micrphones use language online a lot....just mute them by turning the "in game voice volume" all the way to zero!! The game is TOTALLY appropriate! Totally! But Modern Warfare 2 is a better game (:

There is no such thing as a mature 11 year old. I thought I was a mature 11 year old, but looking back, I was immature in many ways.

Anyways. Whether to buy him the game or not depends on how comfortable you are with your child being exposed to the content of the video game. If you think that they will respect that it is only a video game and things that happen there are unacceptable in their 11 year old reality, then he/she may be able to handle it. It all depends on you. It is what you feel comfortable with exposing your child to.

If you haven't seen or heard about Jack Thompson and what he is trying to do (ban Manhunt and Grand Theft Auto for its effect on children), I suggest you look it up. Read the opinions of other people in that situation. Read both sides of the argument and come up with your own opinion. That might help you decide with this.

Ya! way to important to miss. If anything is for mature people is the killing, not so much people but the dogs. The German Shepards scare the **** out of me in that game, they sneak up on you all you hear is barking, but u can't see em then they rip out your jugular! They scare me but the odd thing is.. I have a German Sheppard

No, it's way too violent, bad words are used quite often, lot's of blood spilled. That's not good for a kid. Get him Ratchet and Clank - Tools of Destruction instead - this game is great for all 7+ kids.

No matter how mature and academic an eleven year old is they are still eleven and their social formation and responses are very greatly influenced at that physical and emotional age. The game isn't going anywhere wait until they are much older.

Any responsible gaurdian will not let a "CHILD" play games with blood, bodies being shot up, people swearing, and overall ADULT themes.

Its rated M for a reason.

Probably not, considering its Rated-M. But also because f--k is used almost every other sentance, and the gore can be pretty bad if you have good graphics.

Also the sound system can be pretty crazy and disturbing to your kid's ears and mental energy.
