Why are you so ignorant of what an atheist is?! ATHEIST - someone who does not believe in a God – any God – not just the Christian one. But that does not mean they do not hold strong moral or religious beliefs! They can follow any religion that does not have a god and there are a lot of those! Like BUDDHISM – Religious teaching from Buddha and his followers that by destroying greed, hatred and delusion (the cause of all suffering) man can attain perfect enlightenment! Where do you think christianity got it's ideas of a soul and afterlife from for goodness sake? They stole it from the pagan tribes and peoples which existed hundreds and thousands of years before christianity! From the stone age through vikings, Egyptians, Maoris, Aborigines, American Indians and especially the chinese, they all had elaborate funerals and grave goods to speed the soul into the next life with comfort! Add christians and muslims together and they amount to just under a third of the world population the majority of the rest is made up of atheists and religions without gods!! So they are in the majority here!

Maybe its because those that follow a religion openly give their advice and comments, even when they are not asked for. I've read many questions on here that specifically ask that no pious badgering occurs, but it always does.
Just because denying the existence of god opposes your belief, doesn't make it any less relevant to religion or spirituality.

Why should Religion & Spirituality exist on this site at all? There are churchs, mosques, synogoues, and other places of worship to ask specific questions concerning religion certainly theists minded people lack no shortages of resources to go too? Accept the fact that knowledge and advice comes to you at all angles and it is up to you to listen and keep what you would like of it.

This forum IS NOT a christian forum. Nor is it exclusive to any religion. It is the SOCIETY AND CULTURE section with sub sections. Religion unfortunately affects everyone, and many have questions. Some people on here are incredibly rude, some truly want answers.
I am here to try to understand why there has almost always been a high percentage of society that feels the need to cling to religion. And now despite apparent fallacies.

Correction: Atheists do not believe in supreme beings. Some atheists are religious. Buddhism, for example, is a non theistic religion [meaning that Buddhism does not teach belief in any supreme being(s)].
Secondly, just because atheists do not believe in supreme beings does not mean that we are not spiritual (some of us are) and it does not mean that we lack INTEREST in religion and/or spirituality.
And lastly, when we tried to ask questions about God in the 'Cats' Section, they asked us to leave...

Why the Humans go to the Cats section?
The Religion and Spirituality section isn't just for people who are religious and spiritual, it's for anyone who wants to talk/joke/answer/ask about anything to do with religion and spirituality

Religion is poison, thats why. At least for me, I'd like to think that a logical response may give someone in the God bubble pause and help them work their way out of the shackles which are faith.

This is a forum to talk ABOUT religion & spirituality.
It is not a country club for the religiiously elite.
You don't have to be a cat to talk in the cat's section either.

I don't believe in god/s, but the believers that live in my nation affect my laws and my life. I also think that it's interesting to talk about religion as an academic pursuit.

I don't understand why you didn't look at the history and see that this question has been asked a million times already.
But I'll answer you question anyway, because I'm nice! I'm here to discuss religion, you don't need to be an astronomer to look at the night sky.
