How long is too long for turkey?

I have a 17lb turkey that I will defrost by fridge. The common consensus I have seen so far is 24 hours per 5 lbs. BUT can I put that turkey in today and have it viable to cook in an 18 quart turkey roaster on Thanksgiving? It will have been defrosted for approx 2 days.

It will take that frozen bird 3-4 days to thaw in the fridge. Better start now.

yes - it'll be just fine if you put that turkey in the fridge today.
