I would not be afraid of death either way.Let me say first that I do believe in God. But If I didn't, I still would not be afraid. But I would like to live as long as I could in that case, simply for the fact, that if there were no God, then there would be no after life (in my opinion) so I would want to enjoy life as long as I could, because this would be all that I would have. I wouldn't be afraid of death, because we all die, it is inevitable. But, I would hope to prolong life a little longer, because there would be no Heaven.

That depends upon the person. I'd be much more afraid of dying, if I thought I would have to choose between two really awful places for eternity.

Death holds a great fear for some...Raymond Burr, the actor, would not allow himself to go to sleep towards the end of his life, he was so afraid he would not wake up. Ted Williams, the great baseball player, wanted his body frozen so he could live again in the future as have had others. As death draws near, many people that scoff at it become terrified of it's permanence and unknown features.
As Christians, we know that death has no power over us, Jesus paid the full price for our sins and we will share in Eternal life of peace and joy in heaven with our loved ones and other believers.
Many people in the past have given up their lives rather than reject Jesus.

Perhaps...but it is still the unknown; after all, I don't know for sure there is a God...that is why they call it "faith." Therefore, because it is only human to fear the unknown, I will cheerfully admit I'm a little afraid of dying. Frankly, I don't believe people who claim they are not, religious or not, and there is no shame in that.

I have never really been afraid of dying ... not in my Atheist days and not now
I fear leaving my children of course
but besides that ... it comes to us all , it is part of life

all I can say now though is ... I look forward to the next life
that is the only difference

When I was lying in the hospital in danger of bleeding to death after childbirth, yes, it was comforting to believe that I would awaken in the presence of my God transformed into a higher being, rather than merely disappear into the void. But, that's just me.

Edit--Pangel, I love your answers.

faith doesnt make people much less terrified of death even with the undeniable fact that it makes them attentive to the death. faith tells the actuality that there is not any death. death is particularly like a night after day. For a non-believer those issues are stupidity yet for a believer, life would be meaningless devoid of God. i myself have self belief in faith and GOD.

No, more afraid. That's why they believe in God.
