In a sense, yes. They say women go after a male representation of their father or physical features that their father might have, even the same scent. Men might do this too. It's only weird if he calls her "mommy" and tells her to spank him...that's definitely weird.

Depends on his relationship with his mother. It's said that your romantic relationships mirror the relationships you developed early in life within your family, hence guys often "marry their mothers" (often in dispositions or some other similarities, maybe even looks) and girls "marry their fathers". In non-traditional families, there are other participants that provide the role models. The thinking goes, that since these early realtionships are imprinted on you, this is familiar and what you seek in a mate. This can be good if the family was healthy psychologically and loving, but not such a good thing if there was abuse, alcoholism etc.

Don't they say that a man looks for a woman like his mother?
I'm nothing like my husband's mother but then I've also read that if a man has a good relationship with his mother he tries to replicate her but if their relationship isn't so good (or perhaps his parents relationship isn't so good) then he'll subconsciously look for someone different to her.
I also recall reading or hearing once that nature makes people look for a partner that has strong characteristics to complement the weaknesses in their own bloodline. I don't know if that means in a physical appearance way or personality wise but it's an interesting thought.

Every man has an oedipal complex on some level. The "younger version" should embrace it and thank god he doesn't come from West Virginia or somewhere else where he could've just had the real thing.

as the old saying goes a man will marry his mother.
for some reason guys tend to pick a partner that is similar to there moms.
my x husbands mom and i were almost identical in the way we did things and the things we liked and our looks - wekk if she were younger and taller we would be very similar as well

He probably doesn't see her that way (or notice the similarities like you do). So, to avoid a really messy argument, keep that observation to yourself.
