Yes, cats in fact do pee on trees. This behaivior is also called "spraying". The male cat will spray to show that a certain thing, including trees, is his territory. Also, a female cat in heat or estrus will spray also, but only if she is in heat. Cats have scent glands on their heads, the roofs of their mouths, their chins, their backs, and at the base of their tail. They rub the certain area (except for the roofs of their mouths) on the object, and deposit their scent on it. They will do this to their owners to show that the person belongs to them! Every cat has a different scent. Their scent is also deposited by spraying or peeing on the object. When another cat comes and sniffs the thing the other cat sprayed on, they will know it is not their territory and leave, or they will also spray on the tree themself to make it their territory instead.

She could have already marked her turf a protracted time in the past. yet I moved right into a clean condo quite a few months in the past and had a real concern with this from all 3 of my cats even however there exchange into new carpeting in right here. I used a phernome(sp?) ingredient interior the electrical powered outlet and spray yet they did no longer paintings. i exchange into constantly cleansing and spraying stuff that regulate into meant to discourage them. i eventually had to alter their clutter to Arm n Hammer and that has finally stopped them. i don't understand why the cat could be performing loopy at this factor. My cats try this as quickly as in awhile merely to play while they get a spurt of power. in line with danger regardless of if that is a stay pine tree, it must be the organic outdoors scent or pine scent it somewhat is inflicting it. do no longer THROW HER!!!

i don't think so they have a litter box, and i think there more high maintenance.

or are you talking about a stray cat?
in that case, maybe it depends on the cat.
but you can buy some type of spray that you put on trees and plants that keep the animals away, and does not hurt the tree or plant!!
heheh kool!!

I wouldn't think so, I've never seen a street cat look for a tree to do it's business.

Cats usually climb trees in order to use the restroom. That's why so many of them get stuck in trees.....it's refreshing to them as they tinkle allowing the high winds up above to have sort of a cooling affect.

Not really. I mean they can, but that's a dog thing. Cat's usually pee in litter or in a corner.

Yes they do, if it is a boundry to their territory. They may also use brush or trees as marking post that other cats use, to exchange information.
