My boyfriend gave me a black eye the other night when we were arguing. He promised me he would never do it again, but I'm kind of scared he might. What should I do?

One hit, one apology. One hit means that the boy has no respect for you, no self-control for himself and no control over his anger.
The sad fact is it never stops with one hit, you will get hit again and again, then beaten, then your life will be governed by his anger and bad moods.
Get out before you no longer can, once you get beaten into a coma or worse; you will no longer have a choice.
Please have some respect for yourself, and get out of this relationship, before you cannot.

I noticed that you still refer to this person as your boyfriend. This guy is a loser. His promise is as empty as his lame I love you sayings. Get rid of him. I myself was an abuser. I got a good talking to about it by my mother. She followed up talks later. It never happen again. I did divorce later on in years. This time it wasn't me. I went to raise my children by myself. Now a proud parent of three I have watched my girls go through some nasty assaults by their boyfriends. DO NOT TAKE THIS LADIES. Have them arrested. Someone has to put a stop to it. You could end up dead one day if you don't. Stop the violence. It is your place to do so. If you marry this violence could be used on your children. Stop it now. Lose this Abuser

Get out of the relationship immediately. Your bf had no right whatsoever to hit you. As for his promise never to do it again, I doubt it. You are right to be scared and you can't have a bf who makes you feel that way. He's supposed to be the one to make you feel safe, not make you feel threatened.

MY EX BOYFRIEND DID THE SAME THING TO ME AFTER BEING WITH HIM 1 YR WE GOT INTO AN ARGUMENT AND HE GOT OUT OF CONTROL AND IT WAS IN MIDDLE OT THE NIGHT WHEN HE STARTED HITTING ME. HE HAD SPLIT OPEN MY LIP IN THE IN SIDE OF MY MOUTH(I WAS SPITTING BLOOD) AND ON MY HEAD I ALREADY HAD 3 BUMPS AND MY PIJAMAS WERE TORNED ALL I COULD THINK ABOUT WAS ESCAPING BUT BEFORE I COULD HE HAD ME AGAINST THE WALL APOLOGIZING AND TELLING ME HE WOULD NEVER DO THAT AGAIN WHEN WE ALL KNEW THAT HE HAD SLAPPED ME ONE TIME ABOUT A MONTH BEFORE AND HE HAD APOLOGIZED. I DONT KNOW HOW I GOT MY CAR KEYS AND FORTUNATELY THAT NIGHT I HAD LEFT MY CELL IN MY CAR SO I CALLED THE POLICE AND SINCE THAT NIGHT I REGRET FORGETTING HIM FOR THE FIRST TIME... TAKE CARE AND DONT LET HIM INTIMIDATE YOU.

absolutely no one has the right to hit you for any reason. They take a persons child if a mom or dad would hit them and you think that because he said he wouldnt do it again that he wouldn't? Im sorry but he obviously wasnt thinking clearly when he hit you in the first place so, all it is going to take is for him to get pissed off in another argument for it to happen again, you will see . you need to kick his sorry *** to the curb. you deserve better than that.

sweetheart one thing you need to kno is that under no cercumstance should a man or woman hit someone because they are angry....this is a good way of knowin how he is goint to react to y ou in the future....if you want to stay with him beacuse you love him and so forth you should ask him to gt anger management classes..if you love yoursel fmore i would absolutely leave him....
once a hitter always a hitter until he gets helps....what is worse is that he gave you a black eye....
ask yourself this question so you love yourself more or do y ou love him more....this will help you decide...i hope you know that you should not love noone more than you love yourself
