On some evolution question, I found this answer: " Most definitely is a theory! It has never been proven! Creationism is a fact!"
Do you think anyone can actually be serious when saying such a thing?
Have we not overcome those times when we considered the earth to be flat?

LordVader, my question isn't about believing in god, it's about considering creationism to be 100% the correct and "proven fact". That freaks me out. I'm not an atheist either, by the way

Whoever said that obviously doesn't know how well-supported a scientific theory is. Evolutionary theory has large amounts of evidence to support it and is continuously tested for validity. You simply can't say the same about creationism. All creationism has to "prove" it is ancient myth, opinion, subjective analysis, and presupposition. If you believe creationism, you might as well believe that demons cause illness.

The Bible does not teach creationism. That claims all was made in 6 literal 24 hour days.
Bible chronology shows that God's Sabbath started when Adam/Eve were made and continues through the thousand year judgement day. That makes the sabbath just over 7,000 years long. So the 7 days together would have to be about 49,000 years.
Additionally, the Bible shows that the earth, heavens and material universe were created before at an unspecified beginning. So no date. Only the 49,000 years for doing some things to prepare the earth for man.

There has not been a scientific theory that says the origin of how everything was created, they just say what happened when it was. The Big Bang theory starts with a dense core of energy, but does not explain how that energy came into being. Creationism is the most plausible explanation, it does not contradict science or vice versa. It takes just as much faith to believe in God as the creator as it does to believe in that core of energy existing all alone. Evolution is also a theory that in no way disproves or contrdict creationism as it starts after creation. Here are two videos that will probably help you understand:

I hope that this has helped.

Yes, I think people can be serious when saying such things.
No, we have not overcome ignorance, fear, and the desire to explain everything (your earth is flat question).
Again, the problem is that people mix science and religion (I do start to feel like I'm talking to a brick wall here). One is based on faith. The other is based on observations and fact. In addition, one side (though there shouldn't be sides) is fused with emotion over the "necessity" to save souls - thus faith blinds, and thus ignorance prevails.

When people start saying that what is is their own head is the only possible answer, then you are right to be scared.
What is frightening is not just that these people now have access to the internet ... but what else have they got hold of?
And to what extent are they breeding?
Such willful ignorance (and stupidity) IS scary ... because it goes beyond any capacity for reason.
I'm not a Christian, but I am being to understand why the Biblical God might think a flood in order.

It's one of those hit & run statements that creationists/ ID promoters make hoping to catch those people who are informationaly challenged off guard.
It's never intended to convince people who know it isn't true. It's intended for people who simply don't know.
It's definitely something that should be challenged. It's a part of the wedge strategy of ID.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wedge_strategy
They have admitted to having people whose job is to conduct a campaign of disinformation online.
+++
Take 'mike' for instance. He could be part of the wedge or simply a product of the promotional campaign. He just said "Honey, the Bible explained the world to a sphere when your kind was still throwing rocks at the rising moon."
Assuming he didn't truly mean "the bible explained to a sphere"...
The Greek philosopher Pythagoras was the first to state the earth was round somewhere around 500BCE. Maybe he knows that maybe not. It depends on what end of the wedge he's on. But no doubt someone who was informatinally challenged read his post, believed it and will now pass it on as though it's fact.

Actually he was serious. Especially in the states, many people think that science is the equivalent of belief.
Edit: even though they can read and are resaonable intelligent, many believers will just accept anything a "leader" will say about creationism with out checking the facts.

Evolution is a scientific theory, to explain how species change.
It cannot explain differentiation of species.
And it does not shed any light on Creation itself.
Just as the Big Bang theory cannot explain what happened.
We still come down to apparent intelligent design.

No he probably wasn't joking.
I however see no reason to be scared over this....
Intelligence follows a normal distribution curve... a bell curve if you will... SOMEBODY has to be at the far left side of the curve.
The scary thing is that we let these people vote and drive cars...

For one to say Creationism is a fact is simply a religious idiot that cannot see past their own nose, they simply live and function in complete denial that supports religious insanity.
