my migraines make me really sick, and i usually end up crying like a baby with them, you just feel so isolated and fed up when you get one, i take tablets now everyday to try to stop them and they work very well.
My son whos now 16 also suffers really bad migraines (has since he was 13) and the doc gave him some tablets that work wonders, he takes one first to stop him being sick and then takes a migraine one, they are a godsend but the doctor says they are really expensive and only gives him 6 at a time, its really worth going to the doc, though my son had to go a few times to get him to take him seriously.
Good luck x

A migraine begins with a spasm, or partial closing, of the arteries leading to the main part of the brain When the arteries constrict there is a decreasein the blood supply to the brain, The when the arteries relax, the blood supply increases, causing pain and other symtoms.
These headaches, which are usually felt on only one side of the head and cause throbbing pain, nausea, vomiting, sensitivity to light, sensitivity to sound, and an “out-of-sorts” feeling. The headache usually lasts for 6-24 hours, but may last as long as 72 hours.
Certain foods such as chocolate, cheese, nuts, alcohol, and MSG (monosodium glutamate, which is used to flavor many Chinese dishes) may trigger migraine headaches. Missing meals or sleep may bring also cause migraines. Smoking has also been identified as a trigger that causes migraines in many people. Stress and tension are also risk factors. People often have migraines during times of increased emotional or physical stress
According to eMedicine Health the following factors may also trigger a migraine:
Foods and food additives - Alcohol, caffeine, chocolate, artificial sweeteners (aspartame, saccharin), monosodium glutamate (MSG), citrus fruits, meats with nitrites, salt
Foods containing tyramines - Aged cheese, yogurt, sour cream, chicken livers, sausages, bananas, avocados, canned figs, raisins, peanuts, soy sauce, pickled fish, freshly baked breads, pork, vinegars, beans
Exposure to bright or fluorescent lighting
Strong odors - Perfumes, colognes, petroleum-based products
Hormonal changes - Menstruation (common association), pregnancy, ovulation
Head trauma
Weather changes
Metabolic or infectious diseases
Physical exertion
Motion sickness
Eating ice cream or another cold food
Because there is always a chance that there is an underlying problem, you should see a doctor.

Is it a Migrane or a Cluster Headache? If it goes on for more than one day my Doctor says it is a cluster headache. THey used to call them Stress Headaches until they found out it may be caused by other things than just stress. The point is once you get one it will last until you see your Doc. I had to get a priscription Pain Killer and Priscription Sleeping pills because it is to hard to sleep when it hurts this bad. You have to sleep it off. Sometimes it could take a night up to a few days.. Just see your Doctor ASAP..
Also found out it could be caused by my birth controll. The constant change in hormones caused some of them..
I sure hope this helps and good luck.

I agree that you should see your doc, but yes, it is normal. I've had migraines since I was 6. Sometimes they are affected by hormones.

Perhaps they are caused by a food allergy like to milk or chocolate.
