well i already know that i have to turn on file sharing but what i mean is that not all the files play on my ps3 only some, but what i noticed is that the only ones that do work are the pictures that came with the c0mputer and the song files that i got from cds, the ones it reports errors on, is the ones that i downloaded from other programs and the only videos that work are the ones that i recorded with the built in webcam on my hp laptop.

The audio and video files that appear on the PS3 while you are file sharing are the only picture/audio formats that are compatible with the PS3.

Usually downloaded music from places like Itunes are file protected, and the PS3 can't play file protected music.

I think that you can try this: Copy all of the songs that don't appear on the PS3 during file sharing onto a blank CD, then put the CD into the PS3 and copy the songs off of the CD onto the PS3's hard drive.

The PS3 can only read certain types of files. The link is a list of formats that it can read (it refers to the extension on each file, for example: filename.mp3 is a song the PS3 can read).

avi is in consumer-friendly words a packet. that's any format. optimal Divx and Xvid records are also using the .avi extension. the right way is to receive a application referred to as G-spot. It learn the list and be certain what codec is might want to play the list.
